Looks good.  Remember, Halos should be part of your warmup - they're used to stretch the shoulder out.

Keep at those TGUs.  They're super fun!  Whichever arm is weaker for you, keep those locked out for longer.  I like to hold my last TGU rep on my weak side for as long as I can at lockout -- just so I can get that weak shoulder a little extra work at the end.

Nice meams!  I am feeling a lot better and just finished two midterms yesterday so I am going to be hitting the gym today.  Need to wait until tonight because workers are replacing my toilette today (finally!) which is awesome.

Yay for ab work.  I'm tryin reeeeealy hard to get that 6er to come through.  It's hard to do while I'm "bulking up" though -- eating perpetually won't help me see the pack sooner... but i know itll be good in the long-run :frown:

I'm lookin forward to VO2max

Yeah, the 6 pack is hard.  I found if I eat lots of raw food though the stomach fat just dissipates.

You were talking about static leg holds, those are great for the abs.  I was doing them all summer grease the groove at my pool.  I would hang off the high dive ladder and try to hold my legs out as long as possible, I think like 7s was my best.  But they are so hard for me because i am just over 6feet, and my legs are disproportionately long compared to my body.

Damn, I bet that would be difficult.  I'm pretty well-proportioned, but they're still fucking HARD to do.  I'm probably hovering around the 7s mark aswell, but since I've been doing strictly abs on my variety days -- I expect that to increase quickly.  I dunno, I've never had a 6pack before, and I've always wanted one.  Shit, back in 9th/10th grade I used to do like 2000 situps a night (literally).  Fucking waste of time, lol.

Snatches are the way to go for abs.

Did a medium day today.  5x2 with 20kg, w/ wide grip pullups.

7 minutes of 15/15 with 16kg snatches.

missed light day so I did snatches today.

First workout with my vibrams, they were great.

Yeah man, swings will GET YOU.  How are you structuring your swings?  ARe you working with a set number of reps?  Or are you swinging in time intervals?

Typically i have been doing 30 reps and approx 30 second active rest (walking across the room twice.) It works out approx. 1 minute to .30 seconds rest (i believe.)

I'd only done upto 130 reps today.

So today, after 90 reps i had to cut it down to sets of 25, with the final one being 10.

So we'll see how it goes, im sure in a few days i will be able to do solid 30 reps.

You guys were totally right - i wasn't truly working until i got the 40lb'er.

Would kettlebells be good if I wanted to bulk up? (extremely scrawny 6'1 150 pounds here)

"strength, and muscular endurance without bulking up."

This is what ive read, accurate?

Kettlebells won't make your muscles bigger if that's what you're shooting for.  Certainly you'll gain size after you gain strength -- but this won't pump your biceps or anything like that.

There are tons of bodybuilding forums (and probably some knowledgable people here on the shroomery) that could probably give you some great advice on how to bulk.

Kettlebells haven't made me a lot bigger, but god DAMN I am strong.  The size is coming too, but i'm not so much conerned as I am about getting TONED/DEFINED or wahtever you want to call it.  That aspect is certainly being achieved quickly.

Kettlebells can make your muscles bigger. Low reps and high weight will give strength. High reps and moderate weight yield muscle growth. Return of the Kettlebell covers this extensively. I don't have 18 inch biceps for nothing....I remember when they were 16 inch. Like any weight it depends on how it is used.

I sampled it for about 4 weeks...just to get to know it. The workouts are over fast, but it is very hard and brutal.

Nice.

I just experienced a WONDERFUL thing.  Something they call the "what the hell" effect over on dragondoor.    Now, a few weeks ago when I started the 16kg ROP, I could barely knock out a full workout fo C&Ps with the 16kg.  I was unable to even CLEAN the 24kg at the time.

Well, just a few minutes ago (today was my heavy day, remember) - I decided to see if I could do it.  I did my weak arm first, right side.  Grabbed the 24kg, cleaned it, pressed it.  Wow.  Pressed it again (no clean).  Double-wow.  Really didn't see that comin.  Switched over to my good side and did the same thing, two solid reps.

I really didnt expect this, and am estatic at the moment.  None of the reps were perfect, thats for sure.  I had some back lean and things of that nature, but the rep was there - FUCK YEAH.

Great Meams - i expect to encounter the "WTH effect" when i start running again.

Nov.13.09

- warmup w. burpees added
- 3x20 Halos
- 180 or 210 2handed swings

Nov.14.09

- Partial warmup
- 2x10 TGU; Very strong, much improved weight handling.
- 2x5 minutes hill walking on treadmill
- 4x10 planked rows

PLUS: i just tried a couple high pulls with each arm after my shower. I am pleasantly surprised to find that i am not destroyed and pushed around by the weight. I am going to continue practicing high pulls on my swing days.

(i must admit, i have been intrigued and intimidated by Snatches lately ... even though i am a month or so away from doing them.)
