Another day, another workout
Today was TGU day, and I still felt wrecked from last night's swing day. Again, in order to do TGUs without upsetting my back isssues - I'm slowly building up the # of reps with the 24kg. Last TGU day I did 1/side, today was 2.
After the 2 TGUs/side I finished up the workout with 24kg swings. Again, I took my 16kg MM time and cut it in half for the 24kg, so today I did 6 minutes of MM.
My legs & grip are really worn out in the last few sets with the 24kg, the added weight really is astronomical when it's in motion like that.

Yeah, the 24 has got to be interesting. I'm not going to get mine in today, I am ZONKED and have to head to work. Not to mention I'm still not 100% recovered in my abdomen yet. I've had a history of injury and injuring myself by not easing off when I needed too. I'm a little older and wiser now
Tomorrow is another day.
Good job Meams!

Mmmm I'm not too sore today. My back/shoulders are a bit tight from all those 24kg TGUs & swings, but my legs feel GREAT (as they should, damnit). I did EXTRA pre & post-workout stretching in my lower body yesterday since my legs were WRECKED after my last round.
It seems to have worked!
Looking forward to swings again tomorrow!

Man, my abdomen is not feeling good. If I aggravated it, I'm going to be sad/concerned.

Make that shit feel better, whattheheck! Are you greek? Spray some windex on that shit.
Anyways, I woke up obscenely early this morning (7am? ). I knew my sister had to wake up early (although I didn't know a specific time) and that we were going to smoke a nice wake'n'bake blunt --- so I decided to get my KBing done early.
Went out to the screened in porch and knockced out: -2x10 squats w/ 16kg -12min manmakers with 16kg -Cooldown stretches
Swings with the 16kg are a cakewalk now that I've been swingin the 24kg. I'm pretty sure next swing day I'll start bumping the 16kg manmakers up to 15min, then 18... etc until I'm at 25min again. Then I'll stop using the 16kg for swings and focus only on swingin the 24kg (remember, I've been swinging the 24kg on TGU days to help supplement my "lax" TGU rep numbers).
All-in-all, great progress Muscle memory seems to be coming into play quite quickly -- these 16kg swings are just now

I'm going to try and get my 16 today. I'm out doing some heavy manual labor in my neighbor's yard, and I'm realizing for the very first time how much my hernias have affected a LOT of my life. The KB's FORCE you to propel the weight correctly and I'm seeing how much I have compensated for the injury and lack of power from that area. It's really pretty wild.

I took a week off for a life guarding competition (came 2nd and won an awesome prize) and because my knee was hurting a little/feeling funny.
I was doing 1 TGU(24) more per TGU day like you meams. I I had made it to 5, then just over a week ago I went to 7. I managed 8 yesterday (barely) and then 8 minutes of swings after. Today I tried some presses with the 24, but couldn't reach my goal, my shoulders were tired from yesterday.
I was doing one legged dead lifts with my 24 and they were getting me really good. I was trying with the 24 and 16 also, but it was hard with the off balance.
I think doing one legged dead lifts would be a good alternative to doing full dead lifts, although nothing will ever hit me as good as dead lifts do. They are just so hard on the body, I think it would be good to do the one legged variety. It also hits the glute really well and works balance a lot.
The only thing is that I was doing them without shoes, and my arches cave in a lot, and being on one foot makes it worse. I think I should get some orthopedics and some flat soled shoes to work out in.

God job Canna. I hit it last night and took today off. I have another long day of shoveling rocks tomorrow, and I am pretty wasted from that, but I'm going to try and get a small workout in tomorrow and then go get my 16 KG on Monday.
My abdomen is a sketchy situation. I truly hope I am firing muscle fibers and building something up in there and not slowly tearing up the work that was done so long ago. But I feel I need to push on.
Meams, where you at buddy?

Canna try this. Do sumo dead lifts with two kettlebells. Do two sets of 20 and see what this does for you. Do them as fast as you can (touch the ground and right back up) with proper form. At first it is a breeze but when you get to around the 14th or 15th you really start feeling them. Pavel suggests this for strength and hypertrophy. It will knock your socks off.

Awesome. What happens at a life guarding competition?

My friend was showing me a exercise he does instead of deadlifts, called Romanian deadlifts. It is like a sumo, but you do it one one leg with the other stretched strait back. He plays university football (in Canada) so he knows his shit for training.
I was doing lots of sets of the one legged deadlifts and my glutes/hams are sore today.
A life guarding competition is when a bunch of teams of 4 lifeguards compete in life guarding related events.
There was no fitness challenge this year (BOO-URNs!!!) Only mini games, which were planned poorly, and pool section and first aid.
Basically each section is like 9 minutes of constant stuff to deal with.
For my pool section, we had 3 drowning non swimmers, spinal in the shallow end (taken out on a board), a person having their throat close from latex, Heat exhaustion, people naked in the pool, all in 9 minutes. It was just madness.
For our first aid there was a gang battle upstairs and we had gunshot wound and dead person (doing CPR for 10 minutes doesn't make the knees better), some broken teeth and hands from a brawl.
I was getting paid to do it, so it was pretty sweet. Plus I won a three day surf rental package for 2 people, which is awesome.
Furthermore, we did really well so I am looking very good in the eyes of my boss too, woot.
My parents just bought 2 flats of cherries, so now I am going to go gorge myself.

Sorry m'friend. Drove up to NJ friday morning (got my TGUs in before bed on thurs night) and just got back into town a few hours ago.
I wanted to get my 16kg swings in before bed but after driving 8hr straight from NJ->VA there's just no way it's going to happen today. It's ok though, I'll get 'em in before work tomorrow. I'll be keeping strict time (30:30 protocol) from now on - since I have been just guestimating it as of late.
Hopefully i'll be able to tack on either 2 or 4 minutes to my 12min MM in order to start pushing the envelope back up to the 25min 500 swing mark.
Also, whattheheck - CONGRATS on finally getting the 16kg. I can't wait to read this post you'll surely be typing in a week:Quote:
Guys, the 16kg is absolutely wonderful. At first it wrecked me and I couldn't imagine being able to handle it so easily, but even after one short week I'm already feeling much more comfortable with it. At this rate, I'll be ready for the 20 or 24kg in no time!

I hope that's what happens. I'm planning on getting my 16 tomorrow. I am BEAT from hours of wet and muddy rock excavating and moving in the Rocky Mountain heat, and I'm fried to a crisp. But we'll see if we can get one in tomorrow with the new bell.

on getting the 16kg whattheheck!
I just got done with my 16kg swing. Used the clock today so I could stick to a strict 30:30 -- and MAN I had forgotten how much more difficult it is when you are keeping a strict time schedule. I was hoping to expand my 12min MM out to 14 or 16 today, but it just didn't happen. Definitely on thursday though
6/29/09 --- Swing day.
-Warmup -16kg swings for 12min (30:30) = 240 swings -Cooldown & stretches

Didn't get my bell today. Finished off the neighbor's yard. Grueling, back breaking and soaking we work with some nice 90 degree mountain heat to top it off. I'm BEAT.
Gonna try and get the bell and get one workout in tomorrow.

Whattheheck, I'd better get back from work tonight and read that you HAVE purchased your 16kg. No more excuses, it's time for action!
I just got done with my TGU-day workout. ---Warmup ---24kg TGUs, 4 per side ---24kg swings, 30:30 for 6min (120 swings) ---Cooldown & stretches

Crap man, I am fried. This was basically like doing cement. I don't know if you've ever done cement at altitude on a 90 degree day, but let me tell you. And those were my days OFF
Anyway, I hope to go out and get mine here in a bit. I'm waiting to see if we're going to get anymore money from doing this work, we always have, but if not, that's okay too, so I can budget accordingly.
