whattheheck, I think its ABSOLUTELY GREAT that you're getting your wife & kids into this aswell.  I wish (a WHOLE LOT) that my dad would've introduced me to lifting weights when I was younger.  He probably tried, but I wasn't into being fit & healthy, just wanted to play video games (damnit, meams!).

I just had a nice ROP workout, light day.  The snatches were better in form, but still wore me out pretty quickly.  I have my RKC session this sunday - I can't WAIT to get proper form on the Snatch and C&P.

By the way, I'm pressed for time - so I did a quick warmup today:

Wednesday 4/1/09  (Light Day)

Warmup:
-Halos 16kg 1x20
-Squats 24kg 1x12

Presses:
-C&P 4x(1,2)

Pulls:
-Snatch  84 reps in 6min (6x7/side)

Cooldown:
-Strtechesss

I'm sooooooo addicted to this stuff it's rediculous.  The improvement in my physical endurance & strength, paired with the improvement in my physique is turning me into the KB equivalent of a crackhead.

Also, Hue - thanks for the book recommendations - I'll definitley be giving them a read.

Another quick question:  My right arm is not as strong as my left.  I know everyone has a dominant side, but mine's pretty extreme.  How should I go about equalizing this?  More swings, C&P, and Snatches with my right arm?

Its not really that big of a deal, but it's moderately noticable.  Mainly because my left tricep is about 50% bigger than my right.

Yeah, the kids just went and grabbed them, they're crazy about them. They're home schooled, and this will be a center of their exercise.

And crap meams, when I went to school we weren't allowed to lift weights until high school because teachers still believed that weight training stunted your growth.

Always start your press ladders and snatches on the weak side first.

If you're looking to balance strength there are a few schools of thought, all of them simple. Like Hue said, start on the weak side first when you're fresh, and add a few more reps at the end of your workout to increase the workload.

That's one reason I really dig bodybuilding. There's a LOT that goes into getting symmetry in ones body.

hue, meams, , wtheck. any of you guys do renegade rows?

I totally miss not having a second kb around just to do that exercise.

I do them w/ dumbells at the gym and people give me strange looks cuz the exercise looks so tough (tho I find it really enjoyable), but its just not the same w/ dumbells.

I wish I could do 'em :frown:  I don't have two bells either.  Although once I conquor the ROP with the 24kg I'm going to pick up another 24 and do double-KB exercises on my variety days during the 32kgROP

Well, last night I went out to JMU and had a nice dinner & drinks with a good friend of mine at some Microbrewery (Callee's, I think it was called).  The beer was great, but much darker than I typically drink.  Anyways, I woke up with the ultimate gut-rot today, and came home from work at 10am as a result

Just got done with a nice workout though, added a new movement to my variety day.

4/2/09  ROP Day 11.  Variety

Warmup:
-Halos 3x20 @ 16kg
-Squats 3x12 @ 24kg

TGUs:
-3 reps/side

Leg-Over Floor Press:
-3x(3,4,5)

Floor Whiper:
-3x5

Cooldown:
-Stretchess

All-in-all a pretty good day.  I wish I was getting accustomed to the 24kg TGU more quickly... It's still straining the shit out of my wrist & forearm.

What is the floor wiper and the leg over floor press?  They sound  interesting.  I like squat type exercises.  I will check youtube.

yeah, i just watched a floor wiper video on youtube as well.

looks like I have been doing something similar, but i didnt know the exercise had a name and I really had never seen anyone do it before. Damn, I thought I invented the exercise :nonono:

What I do is get on my back, lift and hold up the kb (well I started doing it w/ a 25# plate yrs ago) straight armed and perpendicular to the floor.

I raise my shoulders off the floor a couple of inches to contract my abs and then I alternate lifting my legs off the ground... not to a 90 degree angle but way more than a 45 degree angle, counting off 40 reps (20 for each leg).

then I move both legs horizontally (holding them about 6" off the ground) to the floor and in a clapping-like motion, counting to 20 reps.

sometimes i'll just hold my legs together about 6 inches off the ground and hold until I cant holds no more.

Sunflower, the Leg over Floor Press can be found on Bodybuilding.com - Mike Mahler posted up a few KB exercises.  It's pretty good, I've been enjoying it.  I can't wait to do a before/after picture comparison - it's going to be hilarious.

I'ma take one picture after I finish the ROP at every weight (16kg, 24kg, 32kg).  Should be interesting

This is great stuff. I put in a good workout today, and the almost instant sweat and muscle "stimulation" is unlike anything I have ever encountered.

I loved body building, but that was for show, and I never really felt like I gained much in practical terms. I was young, it was vanity, but I did look good. I wasn't going to go into power lifting, I have a better chance with my genetic makeup of being the next American Idol  So I floundered for a few years until heading back to the gym a couple of years back.

But as I have said, with my diet and goals, I just couldn't bring that thunder the way I used to, and I was ready to quit. Until I found this thread.

Thanks guys, this is SO perfect for me, and I just know that our family (wife and 4 kiddos) is going to bond over Kettlebelling big time.

that is :awesome: whattheheck, truly :omgawesome:

Today is my medium day!! I'm anxious to get home & work out.  I've decided that in addition to doing my right (weak) arm first, I'm also going to give it an extra set at the end of my workouts - hopefully that'll give it the little boost it needs to get on par with its big brother on my left

Yay!  My medium workout was just as fun as expected!  I threw in the extra reps on the right hand side to try to start the equilibration.  We'll see if it works

The weak side will never be as strong. Day to day use with the strong side has made that difference and it will continue to do so.

I am SORE today. :drooling:  In a real special way. My traps and parts of my rhomboids are sore like they have NEVER been. I had to be the TGU's right? I did 4 sets of 5 on each side. I did them after my swings and my heart was pounding pretty good still.

I have NO idea how you all bang out so many swings. Here I am using a 20 LB ball, and I'm going 30/30 and By the time I hit 100, I am cooked. I'll add to that  the fact that I've been cardio training like a fiend for the past 13 months and am in great shape there. Just more proof of the how different this is, in so many ways.
