Pic 1 - Fan mounted on the lid Pic 2 - Bottom side of the lid Pic 3 - Holes drilled for outlet, fogger, and bubbler Pic 4 - Bubbler's and fogger installed Pic 5 - Picture inside the reservoir with the bubbler's on Pic 6 - Fogger in action without fan Pic 7 - Wife getting fogged when she plugged in the fan

That looks pretty cool. I'm getting a new greenhouse soon and I want to improve my humidity/FAE system.
What kind of bucket and fan is that?

LoL I could build you one if you want.. But the shipping would be crazy to have it shipped to you.. But I am sure we could figure something out.
MycoUnderGround --
The bucket is a 8 or 10 gallon food grade barrel from usplastics.. But you could easily make one with a standard 5 gallon bucket from home depot or where ever.. The fan I bought from grangers.com, it's 40 CFM output, it is alittle to powerful so I need to get a dimmer switch installed so I can adjust the CFM's..
All I need to do to finish it is installed the dimmer switch and the coupling and the hose to the greenhouse and silicone it all up..

$ 25 for a good fogger. $ 28 bucks for the blower on sale. $ 15 bucks for the barrel.
And the fish tank parts I already had laying around.
But you could easily go buy a 5 gallon bucket for 4 bucks and a cheap fogger for around 20 and use a CPU fan with at least 25-30 CFM for around 5-10 bucks..
I went with better equipment so the life of the equipment is longer.. It will pay for itself is the way I look at it..

Here is the link to the fan, I got it for less than that though because I have a graingers store in town and they were on sale at the store.. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/1TDN3
Here is a link to the fogger I purchased it was 25 bucks plus 5 bucks for the float.. http://www.mainlandmart.com/foggers.html
Yeah I have 6 jars of WBS colonizing with lions mane.. They are about 70% done.

It's going to be a professional dimmer switch kinda like the one in the link I have provided, but mine will be rated for 5 amps.. And the motor pulls a maximum of .5 amp.. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/productIndex.shtml?L2=Speed&operator=prodIndexRefinementSearch&originalValue=speed+controller&L1=Controls%2C
Soo I should be good to go.
Here is a picture of the one I may get it is rated 120volts and can handle 6.5 amps..

The cheapest one it is at the top of the page it's like 24.95 and the float was like another 4 bucks at the bottom of the page.

Have you run this setup inside of a martha or other fruiting chamber to measure its effectiveness in providing high humidity (and FAE, obviously).

The idea originally came from Agar and Boris.. So there setup which is almost similar works, so I based mine off there's so I assume mine will work, I will not have a definite answer till I test it out some time this week. But from my readings off agar and also Boris I would assume all is good.. Agar made one similar to mine and Boris has made a smaller version out of a CPU fan and 2 small reservoirs..

Keeps the air aerated to avoid contaminates. You can do a bubbler or H202 (or both). Some add bleach/h202 and some use bubblers. Both work.

I've seen Agar's setup. I suspected yours would do as well, but I like to know ahead of time. I might actually build one of these in the near future as I have everything needed except the fan. I can probably even pick up one or two free from somebody I know, so it would be a nice way to eliminate the hassle of refilling humidifier tanks.

Hmmmm, nice I've been wanting to see you post this.
I'm contemplating a similar build except... I'm unsure about getting over the humps of some design changes.
What I would like to do is have a drum like that supply rh and FAE to 3 greenhouses, except that the greenhouses would also have a return hose to the humidifier. Rather than having a simple intake fan, I want a to have a return box, and the fan will be in-line with the return air. This way there is a constant circulation of the air in all three chambers. With cycle timers you could adjust the amount of time the air stone/bubbler and fogger is on... and once you get it just right you could supply a ridiculous amount of FAE while still maintaining the rh.
I imagine the only downside to this would be that the air is being circulated in all 3 chambers, and if contam becomes present in one, all 3 get it. It and kind of defeats the advantage of keeping them separate. I'm also unsure how a small SQL cage fan will perform while pushing that much humid air...
Once you get everything hooked up, let me know how it rocks or if there is anything you might change. Or even if you think this whole return air business is worth it?
Is anyone else of the opinion that having that kind of climate control over 3 greenhouses would be worthwhile?

Well the only problem I see with your idea is the fact it can spread contamination throughout the system, also I would not do a return because you don't want to be using the same water over and over again, Well at least I don't want to..
This thing could easily supply 3 greenhouses on it's own when it's working right, the problem I am having which I already stated is the fan is to powerful so it actually clears out all the fog in the container and then traps it in the bottom, the down force of air is to great, so I will bump it down alittle and it will solve the problem, or even moving the fan to a different location is it blows across the surface of the water would work as well..
To another question I read, the air stones/bubbler's stay on 24/7 to keep the water aerated with O2, this helps from getting stagnant water..

Eh, fuck it.
I've spent enough time theorizing about this bulk humid/FC thing. Rather than question it, I'm just gonna do it. If it fails, it fails... and I'll post a huge thread describing the entire process so that if anyone after me wants to do the same thing... I'll have a fat pictorial thats says, NO.
The only way to find out is to do it, or screw up trying.
The only difference is my environment is way cleaner than any home cultivators. The greenhouses will be housed in a completely sealed room with recirculating HEPA filtered air. My lab doubles for a grow area and a place for sterile work.

really cool... very nicely done Damion. I have a question tho, i got me a nice ultrasonic from target for under 50 bucks... whats the differance between what ure doing and and store bought 1? if none y go through all the trouble (besides showing that u can build a bad ass fucking fogger from scratch)
BTW, that would be a badass tek for a journal

Larger capacity, provides greater FAE. Also... you'll see a lot of people modifying their cool mists and ultrasonics with hoses and such, and really they're not built for that. The static pressure built up from the modifications usually ends up killing the humidifier.

You can do that, even RR says to stick a coolmist in the greenhouse on the bottom shelf and let it run.
The main reason I made this is for automation purposes.. I work 5-8 hours a day and go to college for 6-8 hours a day as well.. So I really have not time, with this setup I will only have to change/add water every 2 weeks or so, as well the fan will run at all times providing constant O2, then the fogger will be set on a cycle timer and will come on for like 3 minutes off for 10, or some where around there, I still need to tweak the timing on the system so that I keep my Rh up and don't over soak my trays as well as flood my apartment..

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9764163#Post9764163 (air return mixer) the box has 2 inlets, one from each GH, a fat fresh air inlet valve, and the blower goes to the bucket humidifier.
I can't wait to test. *Yells at his trays to colonize faster!!*

What kind of life expentancy do you have on your ultrasonic fogger? Also, how much have you used it? Also, has it died on you? One of my friends is going through foggers left and right.

I read in another thread you cant use dimmer switches on all AC motors, because the frequency of the AC, not the voltage controls the fan speed

The fogger's life will drop considerably with water that is hard or full of minerals. If you have distilled water or softer water, the screens won't wear out as quick.
As well..you can just get a replacement kit for your fogger instead of a full replacement.
Your right ozzy. AC motors are based on frequency modulation not voltage drops (unless the motor is built for that purpose like a ceiling fan).
