 What is your favorite band and their best album in your opinion?

At the moment, my favorite band is Sound Tribe Sector 9. They have been up as my favorite for about 5 years now and they continue to stay strong, imo.
I can't come to a decision on a best album, though. My decision is that two albums are tied for the best album spot:
Offered Schematics Suggesting Peace
And
Artifact
The rest of their albums all fall closely behind.
Live at Home
Interplanetary Escape Vehicle
Seasons 01-02
Peaceblaster

Definitely Pantera's "Far Beyond Driven". Maudlin of the Well's "Bath" and Deftone's "White Poney" are close seconds though.
Favorites mean little to me though, it just means its slightly better than the band's other albums which are all awesome as well.

I have this debate every season. For the Summer time "Soundsystem" always wins out, for Fall its "Transistor" and for any other time its "Music". I do LOVE "Grassroots" though. If everyone listened to 311 there'd be no war and we could walk the streets high as hell hand in hand.

I would say Neil Young's my favorite artist
My favorite album by him he's with Crazy Horse... It's called Rust Never Sleeps

I dont really like the albums they put out cuz they are mostly studio, but pick any live show from them and WOW! Scott Murawski is fucking incredible on the guitar.

I don't really have a favorite band, but I do have some fav albums. These albums do not nessarily have my fav songs on them but there is an overall awesomeness about them:

Excellent album. However, I'd have to go with "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" as my favorite Neil Young album. Cowgirl in the Sand and Down by the River, can't beat those songs.

I'm with you on STS9 but to be honest I think they my second favorite. My favorite band broke up and not many things have made me as sad as when they broke up.
They are called Something Delicious. They are from new orleans straight up funky ass jazz that just grabs you by the soul and makes you say "Damn I fuckin' love life its great!"
Gimme a few minutes I'll upload them to my server hook you guys up with some of their stuff. Their only album is Dialectabity thats spelled completely wrong but I'm upload the show they played at Tipitina's give me a few minutes and I'll have it up.

any ya'll kno this cd? electric sky church music. it's mid 90s trance music. that album is beautiful... it's so nuts. i dunno how he thought half of that crap up. the first four tracks on that CD fuck my mind with how cool they are. i love that album. i can remember lying on my porch this one time during summer after hitting the bowl behind the school up the street from my house, n just breathing in and out in ecstasy listening to that CD. damn~
i also like this song 'gateway to delerium' by 'yes'. yes is moderate... but that track is hot. it's sounds mad trippy man, like a flying saucer and psychedelic war. it's really good.

Honestly, though, Matter & Form only had one good song (Chrome), and although it was ridiculously amazing, it doesn't stack up nearly as well as their earlier albums like Futureperfect or Empires.

hmmm, not really a band, but squarepusher's ultravisitor is by leaps and bounds my favorite album.
as far as traditional band goes, modest mouse's everywhere and his nasty parlor tricks album.

I've been listening to them since I was a kid, they really changed music for me. The first time I tripped I listened to ETYEWTKAS and some parts were just terrifying, but in the best way possible. It was like listening to them for the first time all over again.

NINE INCH NAILSSSS!! how could i have forgotten? dude, the downward spiral. that CD... fuck man, that CD is like god singing to you. that CD is absolute perfect musical genius in every respect, from the package design to the grimy cross between fucked club beats and acid rock, to the fearful, cry for help, sorry that i'm god and fucking you over message... i fucking love that CD.
also - does anyone know HUM? they had one pop song, stars? ('she thinks she missed the train to mars, she's out back counting stars') THAT cd is solid. it's realllllly fuzzy. good for spacing out listening to. that's a really good CD. i never really got into deftones and glassjaw n that shit, it was too... something, headachy. but hum somehow stays hard, but softens it with enough acid effects. that's a good album too.

I do not mean this to insult or agitate, but out of all of nin albums, that is the only one I do not like, and when you ask 98% of people if they like nin, they bring up the "closer". Pretty hate machine is where the pure genius lies.

i can't be totally anti establishment when the establishment builds something like 'closer' dude. how did they let that song get through the lines? and the video? fuck man. that's like my metallica.
actually tho, that isn't my favourite song on the album or anything - but it is a good one.
pretty hate machine is good. you are right, as far as the lyrics go... perhaps it is superior. there are some good 'subliminal' sounds on that CD, but overall... it sounds too whiny to me. it reminds me of this mortal coil - 'the jeweller'. but dun get me wrong, i fucking love that CD too.
broken is good, because he really started to pick up the electronica. the lyrics are ok... but the SOUNDS. i'm a jizz-tard for fucking COOL SOUNDING music. that's why i like trance n shit.
but dude... the downward spiral. either trent was at an absolute pure level of genius, or he was soooooo fucked out of his mind on every drug known to man... he knew EXACTLY, fucking EXACTLY dude how to create what that time period wanted. fuck man, FUCK. that CD is so good i want to shit right now.
