I just don't see the point of spending more than like 15k for a car. Even being salaried (50k+) and single, it just seems like a huge waste of money. I don't see how people do it.

im still sporting 2000 chevy cavalier, now with 120k+ miles on it...its a piece, but gets the job done...and i bought it for $2000 almost 3 years ago now, with 80k miles on it.
cheap parts, easy to work on myself, and has done the job through the tail part of my schooling and getting my career going...i plan on getting a truck eventually, but am not going to put myself in a money bind to do so.

i wanna just save up 4,000.00 and go to one of those little side road dealers and pick up a decent truck.
if i had the money i would buy a black ford edge, lift that fucker, get nice black rims (non gangsta), tint the windows and have a nice sound system that has great sound quality.

A black 1997 Volkswagen Jetta GLX VR6. There's always something wrong with it. As soon as I fix one problem, something else goes wrong. Its as if the car knows that I've fixed something, so it makes something else break. I don't think I'll ever buy another VW because of this. Right now, my driver door will not stay shut. The latch won't grab. This just happened last night, I gotta fix it before I can drive anywhere further than inside my own neighborhood because the door flies open when I make a right turn. I wrapped a bungie cord around the door handle thing and hooked it onto the passenger side to keep the door shut temporarily.

I used to have a mkIII supra, 89 turbo (hence the username) and it was badass. However, after dumping tons of money constantly fixing it and upgrading it and on the tickets i got for driving it, it was time for it to go...was fun as hell while i drove it though.

That's so funny.
I have a '99 Golf VR4 and it is by far the most reliable car I've ever had. I have owned many American and Japanese cars and have had nothing but problems with all of them.
This Golf never breaks. It has almost 200K miles on it and all I ever do is normal preventative maintenence.
I will buy another VW whenever this one dies for sure, simply because this car is so great.
