Thanks for all the great information. This really did help on my first grow, and again for a quick refresher.

First, I would like to thank all involved with this site - what an excellent source of information!
I'm a noob here but have grown cubes in the past, one of the first things that caught my eye here is the fact that this site makes it clear - as I have found myself - that it's not nearly as difficult as many other sources make out.
I apologize in advance if my question has been addressed elsewhere (I read the incredibly informative info at the beginning of this thread as well as the Faq, but I'm still lost)
I want to try my hand at Azurescen from a syringe, but I'm getting mixed information.
Do I have to go Syringe/Agar/grain/substrate(wood chips)?
I realize Cubes can go straight from syringe to grain, but I'm seeing varying accounts on the flying saucers, and cutting out grain or agar would obviously save a lot of work.
(I was thinking agar till it's saturated, then maybe "casing" that with sterilized chips till they saturate for spawn, then 1 to 5 spawn to the ground with fresh chips?)

Thanks for the links guys.
But that's what I'm saying... one link speaking specifically about asurescen says:
First I have prepared mycelium on a sterilized wheat grain by inoculating it from mycelium on agar. After the grain was colonized I inoculated alder chips
(I've seen this several times in reference to azurescene)
Another not specifying azurescene says:
Gently squeeze out about 0.5 to 1.0 cc of spore solution into each grain jar, splitting up the amount if you inject through more than one hole. Some people suggest using an entire cc of solution per jar, however I have had great success with only 0.5cc each.
I suspect I will try a few both ways, I was just hoping to skip a possibly unnessesary troublesome step.

quick question - i want to offer to mail people free spore prints i've made. i haven't been registered here long enough to enter the marketplace, but i'm not trying to trade anyways, just giving them away for free. i don't see a rule anywhere regarding free prints - is it cool if i make a post in the cultivation section or is that not allowed? thanks

they have giveaways in mush cult quite often, make a post.
when people recieve your prints they will leave you positive trade ratings which allows other access in the free spore print/spore syringe/exotic spore print threads in the marketplace (you need at least 2 trades and 4.5 avg rating or higher to participate).
this will give you a good start.

Update on the "Golden Mammoth" strain: the syringe was contaminated as fuck. Hands down the worst syringe I've ever had, every shot has been contaminated, can't make LC or anything. Managed to G2G out some clean stuff, still trying to get enough clean stuff to use.

If we don't get that temperature down to 170 soon, all the GOOD BACTERIA are going to cooked the fuck alive and will not be able to stave off the *BAD BACTERIA* for two weeks until our bulk sub colonizes. The BAD BACTERIA will simply eat the GOOD BACTERIA alive (NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM).

Using the first method, how many grams on average ( i know there are many factors affecting this such as which kind of strain) would one expect to get from each cake?

No way. I think the sodium would make the cells of the spores swell too much.

I found this and this.
try 1 with saline and 1 with sterile water side by side and see if they germinate fine or nothing at all. I had never heard/thought of saline for syringes b4 now.
