Volta Do Mar - At the Speed of Light or Day

I've had this album for years but didn't appreciate until just recently. Ambient sometimes, melodic other times.

'Nice going, God!
Nobody but You could have done it, God! I certainly couldn't have.
I feel very unimportant compared to You.
The only way I can feel the least bit important is to think of all the mud that didn't even get to sit up and look around.' "

I've listened to the that Volta Do Mar cd for at least a year and it is really fucking great. Tight, fun, intricate mostly instrumental music. Id say it's rarely ambient. Ranges from frenzied, layered breakdowns to slower melodic tunes. The cd is long and sometimes it all blends together a bit if you listen to the whole thing, but there are some fantastic songs along the way.
Favorite track has to be #8, "ransom stoddard", when it slows down towards the middle and that whistle and brief vocal comes in, yum.
Definitely something for everyone to check out, one of those that things that if it clicks for you, it's really going to click for you.

2008 sophomore album by Metronomy; the discerning music aficionado's favorite Electronic band. Joseph Mount writes and records music using the name Metronomy. Oscar Cash, Gabriel Stebbing and Joseph Mount perform that music live and still call themselves Metronomy. Joseph Mount lived in Devon for a time, moved to Brighton and has finally settled for a while in London. Nights Out is a timely, thrilling Pop album, a future Electro-Pop classic - a wholly original mashup of electronic, falsetto-laden brilliance, and a thoroughly modern, freakishly danceable record to be listened to from start to finish. 12 tracks. Because.
Sounds a little like hotchip, but I like it, some elctro-dancey shit

Nexion said: Heres one of the my favorite indie bands, they deserve more attention: Slint - "Spiderland" and "Tweez"
Anyone have any 764-Hero or Shipping News albums to upload? I can't find them anywhere and I don't have a job right now so actually the albums isn't an option.
Yeah Spiderland is a great CD... Washer and Good Morning, Captain are genius, especially Good Morning, Captain I could listen to that song forever.
Here!
764-HERO - Get Here and Stay

"764-Hero may not admit it, but all the rainy days in their hometown of Seattle have obviously gotten to them. As confident a breakup album as you'll hear, Get Here and Stay plays out like a sopping wet Sunday afternoon made for laying low. Lead man John Atkins isn't afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve, and his emotional tales of wounded love play out with added poignancy due to this openness, especially on the desolate and graceful "Calendar Pages." It doesn't hurt that his tight guitar rhythms, paired off with Polly Johnson's whispering drum beats, offer up lovely melodies and even a bit of melancholia all too rare in most indie love letters. Even when Atkins tries to let the sun shine through the melodies, as on the low-fi stomper "History Lessons," the distraught romantic in him turns the new wave organs underneath the surface into cries of heartbreak."
Wow that's really long, anyway yeah Calendar Pages is an incredible song and the rest of their albums are similar.
764-HERO - Nobody Knows This Is Everywhere

My favorite album of theirs, really consistent as far as quality throughout the album and they have a Neil Young reference so what more could you ask for?
764-HERO - Weekends of Sound

Modest Mouse & 764-HERO - Whenever You See Fit

This is a really neat split ep they did with modest mouse, it's the same song done differently three times and surprisingly not repetitive, or at least I never get sick of it even though one of the tracks is 14 minutes long, it's really easy to listen through the whole thing.

What a great thread! Greetings from kiwi-land. Now, most of you won't know much about Asian Indie- since it isn't really in abundance.
I came across 2 bands from Hong Kong (which sing in perfect English btw)- and they're good!
Enjoy.

I guess I meant it was ambient during the first track. But you're right it's not as much ambient as it is just a cluster-fuck of noise complemented well by melodies throughout the whole thing. Anyways, I'll get off my volta do mar soapbox. Good shit. Nuff said.
