 Trusted Cultivators and searches

Just an idea that might be beneficial to newcomers searching for info and the sheer amount of outdated info/posts saying to go an search.
What if there was a search option to only search posts by trusted cultivators?

It'd work, but I'm most people would just ask in the forum for info, hoping someone who knows their stuff will respond.

goto user list in the upper right hand corner, click on that and then click advanced user search and click on trusted culitivators and it'l tell who all the trusted cultivators are and then you can go from there if you want to read their posts.

I actually think that you have a great idea. But I started thinking about it and came to the conclusion that most noobs are lazy and want the info handed to them instead of putting in a little effort. Everything you would ever need to know to grow mushrooms is here. Even though it would help. Half of the newcomers are gonna ask what a trusted cultivator is and the other half are gonna act like they never seen the tag. Oh I just noticed that.

Thats exactly how i search kind off. in the advance search you can search post only by username. I usually start of with rogerrabbit

Agreed. Like everything, advice must be taken with a grain of salt. The trusted cultivator tag indicates that person is a proved, experienced user, but there's also lots of good advice out there by others as well. As the site grows, it's important that new users learn to use the search function, so we don't have pages and pages of the same repetitive questions over and over again.
What happens, is a question has been answered so many times, the experienced users simply ignore it, and then wrong answers are given by noobs to other noobs, and hundreds of new members read that bad info and act on it.
As said, click on the link at the top of the page to 'user list' and then click 'Advanced User Search', then click the box for trusted cultivators and you'll get the list.

I'd like to see a proven thread tag where the moderator can tag a thread to verify that the subject was followed through to the end. Would save a lot of hassle reading through the thread only to find nothing really happened. Or maybe a Experimental forum so those who wish to do research can have someone verify their work as finished and fulfilled. Something to the nature of posting a subject, give a pre-experamental discription and have a moderator aprove it and then proceed with it under it's approval. Then when finished have it closed and labeled proven by the moderator.

That would be kinda harder to implement, just instead of typing each trusteds name in a search, just typing 'trusted cultivators' would search threads for any of their names.

If someone is a Moderator here or in any of the Mush Cult forums...
they are trusted cultivators.
We(The Shroomery Staff) decided that these tags were for members that we felt deserved or earned the distinction.
