Around 60 hours hunting this season (if you can call it that) has only got me a few shaggy manes, a maggoty bolete and one solitary lib. Where the hell are they this year? The fields around Dublin are legendary for producing good numbers but they just aren't here this year - getting quite cold too so the end is close!

Don't say that man, things have only just started,, . The cold spell we're having will pass and it'll warm up again.
I bet all this peak district talk is making Uarewotueat nervous,,, .

nervous? don't be silly
just a cold snap that will pass like you said, the end is nigh lol i was picking still after at least 5 frosts last year, the only reason i stopped was because it was getting too cold for me
i was going to go out tomorrow morning but i suspect that it will freeze tonight so i'm putting it off until sunday as it is expected to be slightly warmer over night sat/sun...

yeah, it's going to be colder than that up in the peaks tonight, below freezing if you add on the windchill... i am looking at the sheffield forecast btw.
30mph winds and rain tomorrow have put me off a bit too, sunday looks more settled
ya know there are tons of excellent looking fields just out of sheffield on the A57 before you hit the derbyshire border...

Hah, I've yet to find any 'safe' people here, nice to know there are some kicking about. You going to fatmoon per chance?
My plan is to hike my way up towards the moors on the otherside (as thats closer to me) and see what I find. Providing the weathers not terrible, the worst that can happen is that I go on a nice long walk . I'm still getting my bearings here and if all goes well this weekend, then I might consider a proper hike into the peaks next weekend (hopefully I should have at least a bike by then to make travelling distance easier).
Good luck yourself (but I'm sure you won't need it) and thanks for the tips .

psytrance ain't really my thing either, but I'm networking... going to some decent dubstep night as well soon, hopefully I'll find some of my kind of people there .
I've been looking forward to this all week, so hopefully I have some success. I'll report back tomorrow .
Thanks man .

was gonna hit the Stirling district tomorrow but its unbelievably wet and windy up here today so even if it clears up tomorrow i think ill wait until we've had at least one dry day first. i went to check out a local patch yesterday that had hundreds last week and couldn't see much, the grass looked a bit weather beaten too. was having a scan over the gardens on my girl friends street today on the way by,theirs loads of them that where their last week and they are all black and rotten looking with the weather,so a couple of dry days is what we need(up here anyway) to bring on a fresh flush of shrooms.
I'm a bit disappointed as my old mans going for a hot air balloon ride tomorrow in the country and he was going to drop me of anywhere of my choice and pick me up again when its over so i would have got a free ride and a full day to pick,i may still go for the hell of it if this stormy weather dies down but failing that ill just have to revert to plan b,a bus to the middle of uchterknowhere after the first dry-ish day.only got one days work next week and i can do that whatever day i choose so picking a day wont be a problem.heres hoping the weather calms down.

Hey guys, went to my other spot yesterday and found about 30, me and my brother ate 15 each and decided to go back and look while under the influence.... Best idea ever, because we only had a very small amount I got a very mellow feeling, enhanced colours etc, basically a low level 1. Saw a rainbow while picking which was an awesome experience on shrooms. We managed to pick about 50 more from the spot. So its safe to say the season has well and truly started in Shropshire . Heres a pic of some of my first finds, I would of taken more pics but my phone died on me

Weather was shite... the closer I got to the peaks the more windy / rainy it became (and it was that shit misty rain too).
Found a few lbm's but that was it. Hopefully the weather is not this poor next weekend so I can have a proper look .

If I don't feel too shitty tomorrow morning and the weather is more reasonable I'm gonna attempt to walk up there again... Although I saw a fair few random lbm's in the fields I did fine, which I guess is a good sign .

got to agree with you on that,i was saying to a friend today that i know i could go out and easily get us enough for a couple of journeys anytime but i fell we should wait a bit longer and do the job right, instead of these small outings to get small numbers.

my thoughts exactly, it's a 1.5 hour drive to my spots from where i live and after my pretty much fruitless trip a couple of weeks ago i'm starting to think that i should bide my time
i'm kind of surprised that they haven't got going in full swing yet considering the early finds this year

Well went out today and found 6 granted not a big haul but It's definitely making me feel better about my field now. I also found them all in on small clump of grass kind of how I see them in photo's instead of scattered one here one there, really gives me hope for the middle of Oct. Should have a camera in a week can't wait to take pics.
