Humidifier Reservoir Expansion!

Humidifier Reservoir Expansion-
Many of us are using cool-mist humidifiers in our fruiting chambers. And I would bet just about everyone has come home after being gone for the weekend to find it had run empty and dried out the FC. What we need is a humidifier that only needs filling once a week. I’ve seen a few different methods out there and tried a few myself. But I found this method to be so damn simple and effective that I have to share it.
Here is the contraption in all its glory

The operation is simple. Gravity allows the water to flow down the fill tube until the water level reaches the end of the vent tube inside the humidifier. Once the water gets sucked up into the vent tube the vacuum that is created inside will not allow the fill tube to continue filling the humidifier. As the humidifier runs for a while eventually the vent tube is exposed again and the force of the water trying to drain out will suck the water out of the vent tube and the external reservoir will drain into the humidifier freely. This process will repeat until the reservoir is empty.
Just pinch or put a small clamp on the fill tube and unscrew the cap to refill when necessary. That’s all there is too it. No electrical circuits or valves to fail the only fault I see is if the reservoir somehow is cracked and no longer holds a vacuum. Worst case scenario the drip catcher in the bottom of your FC will fill up with 3 gallons of water. I intend to place the humidifier directly into my FC on the bottom shelf and the reservoir on the one above it. The hose lengths were cut accordingly.
I think we can all already see exactly what needs to be done to create this apparatus but a few more pics can’t hurt.
Materials

Take the pen apart and keep these parts

I cut about an inch of the smaller diameter pen pipe to make an adapter to attach my plastic hose to the larger pen pipe.

I like these sunbeam humidifiers. The first one I bought still works after many many hours of operation. The flat ledge in the back was the perfect spot to drill two holes just big enough to fit the pipes in. I used silicone to seal them in place.
Inside the humidifier you need to make sure the fill tube goes almost all the way to the bottom of the FC. The vent tube should be just a little lower than the level you want to maintain.

I removed the valve from the water jug and used the rubber stopper to connect the tubes to the water tank. You know one of those rubber stoppers you steal from science class in high school to make a bong out of a whiskey bottle
You need to make sure the end of the vent tube sits at the top of the water jug. I slid it up inside of the handle of the water jug to hold it in place.

Simple enough don’t ya think??

Just thought I'd add in, buy some bacteriostatic water from walmart, it can be found in the pharmacy by the humidifiers, it will stop any baddies from growing in your cool-mist or the reservoir! I've also noticed a general decrease of contaminations within my FC.
I use a 10 Gal. garbage can converted into a pressure tight sealed reservoir, and over multiple months have not cleaned the reservoir and it is still slime free!
They also carry a product that is to be used with tap water to remove minerals that will extend the life of your ultrasonic. I feel both products have been well worth the investment.

For a fully enclosed gh with a coolmist piped in, one may find that adding one of these to the opposite end as the intake will seriously help reduce pressure buildup and strain on the poor weak coolmist motor, while also dramatically improving fae without cutting polyfill stuffed slits all over the damn thing. (That looks suspicious )

Thanks Alot!! This is a great idea. I Needed a lot more capacity, and this is the way to go!

You had me at "two tubes".
Not exactly a quote, but an idea.
This deals with controlling the flow in such a simple way.
