Unlucky,, i'll keep my mouth shut next time,, .
I didn't think you'd bring back anything epic but i thought you'd still do ok,, . Don't worry about it, least you had a day out in the hills,, and there's plenty of time left yet.

i went out for my first picking trip in what was most probably the worst place to go (a certain heathe in london) but i still wanted to try my luck as ive seen mushrooms growing about there when i was younger but obviously i have no clue what species they were.
so i looked in the fields where people dont really go and amongst the long grass i couldnt find a thing. i went to another part and subsequently got lost (for the first time..how i donno) and on a long narrow lane near some bush that had stinging nettles growing around it i saw 1 mushroom but I didnt pick it as it as there was only 1. basically a shit day yesterday as far as finding mushrooms went.
any tips guys? i dont know what to look for, and what kind of location i would need to go to. ive read alot of explanations on these forums etc but all seem to apply to the country side which is pretty inaccessible when youre in london without transport. :/

check everywhere you see grass,if its public you dont have to pick them but it will give you a good idea of how many are out,if you check your local parks, golf courses, gardens, ect, when you start seing enouhg of them then you know it will be worth taking a train to the nearest bit of countryside.

These gym's (big laughing gym's? -quick google search!) are not something I was aware of. Are they widespread?

This is the second time i've found them in just under a year of (fairly infrequent) hunting. the potency is a bit hit-and-miss though
EDIT: yes, i believe they were Gymnopilus spectabilis/junionus

Took a peek yesterday, it's gotten too damn warm down south Nada ! Shame after last weeks haul of 300 or so.
Weather-eye on the weather....
I have a feeling when things kick off this year it's gonna be large-ish.

Because modern institutions depend on the transmission of a certain world view and then willing acquiescense in the truth of that world view by the populations into which it is being exported.
In other words a kind of cultural brainwashing is necessary for modern cultures to work at all.
The consequences of the acceptance of this situation of brainwashing is further acceleration toward catastrophe."

well the weather in Scotland has been to wet for my licking but with the past couple of days of sunshine i decided to go to my local park this morning. the grass was still a bit to waterlogged for my liking on the flat lawns but on the hilly parts i found about 80 libs in about 25 mins. now i know there out in force up here I'm going to head for the countryside tomorrow morning. also all the front lawns in my girlfriends street are covered in them,in the old days i would have just ran in and grabbed the lot but its just not worth it now the law has changed,i used to always get my full years supply from gardens and parks without ever having to go near the countryside but you just cant do that now,all it takes is one phone call from some doo gooder and your up in court for a class a,just farmers Ive got to watch out for now.

I searched 4 spots today - not a bean. Not even a regular mushroom. I'm way down south though maybe its not cold enough here.

Is it just my luck?
All summer, its been pissing down with rain. Its now coming to the end of September and there has been nothing but sunshine all week.
When will it start raining so i can finally go out hunting with the hope of finding libs?
