Just wanted to say whoever came up with that is genius. I was wondering how this place was going to function with all the new cultivators. Damn, that'll work.

Thanks. I requested the tags be developed because the moderator staff was getting sick and tired of having to jump into multiple threads every day to correct flat out wrong and bad info being passed out to new growers, who then fail by following that bad advice. Our hats go off to Ythan for coding the tags and making this possible.
Now, people need to quit pm'ing us to ask for the tag, which is totally inappropriate. The moderator staff is reading threads and the advice given. We'll award the tags based on knowledge and experience over time, not degree of vacuum pulled.
A new tag has also been created in the hunting forum of 'trusted identifier' to help out there as well. Hopefully, we've made the right choices.

it would be more difficult to run. I mean you could be a trusted cultivator and then that's it, your not presumably going to forget your basics and turn into some sort of dumbass. But with a noob tag you can be put into the category, but then you could straighten up and learn proper. So it would be a huge pain.

One negative side effect of the "TC" tag I've noticed is that some serious post whoring is going on now by a few members who don't have it. These same members didn't post (quite) that much before the tag went into effect.

Maybe thats true. I have had a year out and came back and well kinda cant stay away from this place. though i posted alot before the TC came about.
But i know that i shouldnt have a TC tag, i still have a hell of a lot to learn. And at the moment i dont have experience behind me. I only advice on what i have read for the moment.
I try to give the best advice i can, but i still get it a bit wrong from time to time.

You give good advice too P menace. As time goes on, we'll add more tags I'm sure. Post whoring won't get anyone a tag, nor will asking for one. The tags weren't developed for anyone's ego, but simply because there was so much horrible advice being posted by members with high post counts and a few years since registering, so it was seriously screwing up the new folks.
The absence of a tag in no way means the person is not to be trusted. It just means that in most cases if there is opposing viewpoints in the same thread, new growers can give more weight to someone with the trusted cultivator tag, and that's all. There's at least one grower we assigned the tag to who often gives very different advice than I do. It doesn't mean that either one of us is wrong, it just shows there's often more than one way to skin a cat.

They can only try to stop bullshit started in here by talking(typing) just like you.

I have a feeling that if the mods need help badly enough, and a trusted cultivator (or similarly recognized member) has proven themselves worthy over time and expresses interest, that member will simply become another moderator instead of being grant "super moderator powers".
While the Mods and members all put up with a fair amount of bullshit on this site, we also have a smoothly running board that is constantly helping its members. That's a rare thing on the internet any more. While the TC tag has provided a simple solution to what many considered a complex problem, I don't think our situation warrants any power granting or shifting.
Of course, this is all IMHO.
