I'm starting to get the impression I flat out suck at mushroom hunting. Temperatures have been absolutely perfect for the past week in my area (15 max day, 10 min night and raining intermittently like crazy). I take my first chance to go traipsing across every cow field in my farm crazy area and for 2 hours all I have to show is the spotting of a single milk white capped pin.

Am I doing something wrong? I haven't reliably found a good sheep field, but other than being cows fields or just grassland they're not bog, they're occasionally southern facing and they seem to get all the other important Liberty Cap hits. I'd think I'd at least be seeing lookalikes? I suppose your first hunts are the hardest, but still.

Don't worry about it just yet. I still don't think the season has fully begun as I was hunting in a known patch for libs today and only managed to find three specimens.

Keep at it and good luck.

I've had a somewhat loopy day today. Ended up in a field fully tripping and stoned and partially drunk picking shrooms and escaping the ever watchful gaze of society.

I suppose, if nothing else, during these little excursions I'm seeing more of the gorgeous countryside of my area than I have in the past two years of living here, and stomping about for multiple hours has got to be decent exercise. I am getting something out of it, although I wish that something was something I could eat

Yes.  You need to know a spot.  I searched every year for roughly 8-10 years and never found more than 15.  That was hundreds of hours of hunting at the correct time and location.

Then I started asking old hippies etc if they could help me.  Now I have a few decent spots that yield loads but the only problem is I have to drive 100+ miles to each one!  :frown:

I had one locally but the government spayed it with some fungicide as it got too well known.  It barely yields 1 or 2 now.

My advice is ask hippies for locations.  Warning I got loads of bullshit locations or ones that just don't fruit anymore told to me too.

Anyone found any yet round Leicestershire area? My local spot is ruined, the fence broke last year just before the season so the horses havn't been in it and it's been left to overgrow since, until the owners cut the grass about 3 weeks ago to dump some haybails. The grass has gone really light green almost florecent and doesn't look too healthy :frown:

So now I'm going to have to trapse round for hours finding a new spot, so just wondering if any have been popping up locally so I can start looking. I just cant wait much longer!!!!

yes mate sounds good to me. Bradgate parks a good place to go for them, but half of Leicester knows about it so you gotta be quick and go early mornings.

I went on a quick hunt yesterday but didnt find anything different to you. I did find 1 lib last week growing on its own on the school playing field, which is strange because it's the wrong type of grass, and its not fertilized etc. but I just stumbled on it while I was playing football. So they are out round here, just not in force.

I don't know if I can be bothered to trek up to braggy park, but if it comes to it and I can't find any then I will have to.

I'm going to go hunting tomorow morning as it is my day off work, what time do you guys think is best time to get up? Or should I just not bother and leave it for a couple of weeks?

Also the feilds that I will be searching are cow feilds does this make much difference as everyone else seems to be finding them in sheep feilds???

Good look to all you hunters out there!
