i see oxycodone and heroin as opiates because they are derived from thebaine and morphine respectively, and thebaine and morphine are both constituents of opium.
something like dxm or methadone isn't derived from an opiate, it just has opioid receptor activty.

I've only tried codeine, but if I did have to try an opiate, it would be straight opium or poppy tea. Everything else is nasty for me. Don't really like the opiate high.

Yeah, I didn't like it either until I lowered the dose and added a benzo.

methadone is most definately a true opiate drug. it is synthetitic of course, but it is a very strong opiate. it is not in the same category of natural opiates like opium, morphine thebaine or the like, but it affects the body the in the exact same way. dxm really doesnt unless its a massive fucking dose. and even then it isnt that much opioid receptor play going on. methadone and fentanyl are def no dif than heroin or oxycodone, or even morphine and codiene for that matter... other than they are sythnetitic and have a dif play on the receptors to a small window of contrast.

No, morphine is an opiate, methadone and fentanyl are opioids. They both affect the opioid receptors in the same way, and the difference is purely semantics. But earlier, someone suggested that opioids should not be included in the thread. But if you don't want to include DXM on the grounds that it's an opioid, and not an opiate, you can't include methadone of fentanyl because they are also opioids, and not opiates.
I though this was already explained. Several times.
And if you'd like to exclude DXM on the grounds that it needs a larger dose than average opioids, then you need to exclude things like codeine, which also needs a fairly large dose.

I thought the euphoria and well being/feeling of peace on DXM was because it's an opioid...

It's because of many things, like SRI and SRA properties, NMDA antagonist properties, but opioid affinity surely plays a part in those who are opioid naive.

Methadone is NOT an opiate, it's an opioid. Just because something is potent does NOT make it more of an opiate or something.

Opioids are used as a receptor blocker of opiates by binding the synthetic chemical to the receptor to help heroine junkies kick because if you use an opiate while on an opioid the opiate will have little to no effect and typically make one violently ill (depending on the opioid) <<<<<<<<---- trust me on this one. Personal experience. Fresh opium tea or opium in the raw smoked is a very pleasant deeply relaxing narcotic high with muscle relaxant overtones backed by lowered respiratory rate and hypnotic dreamlike awareness (unless you use too much which can result in mild to horrible nausea).

Suboxone (buponorphine), methadone, phyntinal, and a few others especially all fall under that category. Been there done that I know WAY more about opiates and oids than I would care to I will not argue this further. (forgive any spelling mistakes)

when people say they'll argue no further, it usually means they aren't too confident in their claims.
