I think I finally found my first bunch of liberty caps today.

I was taking the dog a walk early this morning and stumbled upon some of these. I found them in the local park next to the golf course on short grass. I managed to find 40.
If someone can confirm these then I will be taken my first trip tonight. They all have that nipple on the top of them. After looking at a thousand pictures of these I'm convinced they are liberty caps.

I'd say most of them are libs, one of them looks a bit like a stropharia, to be safe I'd take the ones with prominent nipples, but I'm no expert, just my 2 cents. Enjoy your trip . I'm sending good vibes your way

Thanks for the reply mike. I will take you're advice and consume the ones with the prominent nipples on them. I'm just gonna have a couple of beers then brew these up.

if im doing one dose i like to use only one cup of water and put it on the boil in a small pot for a few minutes then strain it thru a cloth or coffee filter. Ive noticed over the years that a couple of minutes really is all it needs, and one of the good things about using a small volume of water is you end up with a small amount to drink,if its only one little gulp theirs no need for sugar or tea bags or anything to hide the taste. simple and easy but imo by far the best method. PS yes i would eat them all except that 3rd left one to.

Hi all, just read the entire thread and wanted to ask a question. I'm going picking next weekend in a spot I've been told about in the peak district. I know what I'm looking for but I imagine it is quite popular as it's near a stone circle so probably lots of old hippies pick there. Sorry to stereotype! My question is as it is looking like it will be good conditions for picking next weekend will there be any left on Monday when I plan to go.
I guess my question is how quickly do they grow. If a field is picked on a Sunday but the conditions are good then will there be more on Monday morning.
Lets say percentages
say 100% of a field was picked and the picker got 100 mushrooms then with good conditions how many good sized ones can somebody expect to get the next day?
Thanks in advance

Nothing beats tripping out and suddenly being faced with a load of chavs. Happened today. I was sat (from what I thought was out the way of civilization) when a gang of chavs walks seemlessly out of nowhere each holding cans of beer. I seriously didn't know what to do with myself, I was just sat there listening to music really enjoying the trip when all of a sudden I look up to see them all
I left before they could say anything. Maybe they were harmless, but I didn't stick around and take my chances.

Whenever any shout anything at me I always find it funny, they are like animals it's hilarious. One time a load called me gay as I was passing by finishing a very relaxing trip, spent the next half hour pondering on why they found that sexuality so offensive and why they define people by sexuality anyway.
Has anyone found that the season started in september and then it just died?

it hasn't "died", it was a flush brought on by a cold snap. when the temps drop.... you'll see.

they take a day or two to grow back, if the weather/temps are still good. you can pick a field 3 times a week pretty happily

you can pick a field every day if you want to over pick it...
as haymaker said, 3 times a week is a pretty safe balance as that gives the mushrooms plenty of time to grow and drop spores as nature intended

Well had a bit of a shit time tonight. Decided to head to my spot after work seeing as though its been pretty wet and cool over the last few days. It normally takes me an hour after work in the traffic, tnoight it took me nearly 2 and a half sodding hours, traffic was just rediculous. Anyway, got there about 25 mins before it got too dark to really see properly, but was still nearly impossible to spot them as they were all dark and fresh and difficult to see in the fading light. Managed to find about 5 or 10 in about 10 mins when I look up and see the farmer on his quad bike coming towards me in the next field a few hundred yards away. This just wasn't going to be my night! I had the mushrooms in my hand but didn't want to risk anything so started dropping them 1 by 1 and pulled my phone out and casually started taking photos of the surroundings. He pulled up to me and told me I was trespassing, I told him I thought a path ran up here and he said no. Then he asks me 'what am i doing up here, bird watcing?' (in a way that he blatently knew what I was doing, watching me on my hands and knees looking in the grass). I told him i was taking photos for a college project (even though it was almost pitch black by this point haha, he noted this and said 'well its a bit dark isn't it', I just told him I was hoping it was going to be sunnier lol). Anyway, I just left, wet, cold and shroomless, after spending a ridiculous amount of time getting there, not a good evening!!!:(
