I knocked up 12 jars about 4 weeks ago and Im not seeing any results... I got the equine horse dung substrate and PES hawaiian strain from sporestore.com, sterilized the needle with isopropyl rubing alcohol with a paper towel between every jar, and put them in my closet and kept them around 75-78 degrees... but nothing is happening at all. Are these jars hopeless? or do i need to do something different?
Horse dung isn't a good direct substrate for multi spore inoculation. You will notice noone here uses horse dung for jars. Should have also ordered from a vendor here. Follow the basic PF tek with brown rice flour or if you have a PC go for grains.
Does that mean they could just be growing slowly? Its my second attempt at growing mushrooms... first cakes all got moldy or stopped growing... and then these are almost impossible to contaminate but they won't grow. I've already spent over 150$ trying to grow some shrooms... if these will eventually grow I'll just use them but I'm not sure if they will.
The jars come pre-sterilized... with a cottonball type filter on top that you stick the needle through, and I swabbed the needle between every jar and they haven't been opened. i injected the spores directly into the middle of the substrate... dunno if that makes any difference. could they just be growing really slow?
