this video cracks me up. although i knew the book, this was the first time that i saw him clothes, and heard his accent. And he does funny things with his face to illustrate his words. especially at around 4 and a half minutes, where he starts to talk about lsd. haha.

I think it is brilliant when he says it is more important how often you awaken to the now than how long you stay in the now - which takes care of itself. thanks for this snippet!

nice. so it finally clicked that thats the state of mind i get into when im on a small amount of shrooms.
i take it this is also the state of mind people get into when they meditate?
once you have that mind set and can maintain it what can you do with it? just because your enlightened doesn't mean you stop feeding your self.

this mindset is something you can do anything with, with greater awareness, clarity and aliveness.
we're always feeding ourselves... it's just some are fat and others have a healthy metabolism.

Thanks for posting that. I've read and heard lots of his material but I never heard Tolle mention LSD.
Kind of disappointing though, LSD does far more than simply "amplify the senses".
I think it can catalyze the same 'conscious presence' and 'body awareness' that Tolle describes.
I think the best comment about psychedelics made by Advaita types like Tolle, is that the point is not experiencing fantastic trips, but understanding the true nature of the tripper.

Alan Watts said (paraphrased) that psychedelics are like a phone to God, when you get the message hang up...yesterday when I was on a 4 strip I had the most intense vision of my life...everything was crystal clear, there was no end to the detail I saw in nature. It's sad to think most people are contented with their new HD plasmas 1080i or whatever they are but they have no idea that real life or reality is soooooooo much more in depth and beautiful, there thoughts and preconceptions prevent them from seeing this beauty as have my own.
Does LSD really do much more than amplify the senses? Does LSD really do anything more than unlock gateways in our head, agonizing serotonin receptors? Everything was already there all we needed was a catalyst.

If you're interested in this, read the book The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle. I'm sure almost any one of you knows it, but if you don't, this is the time!
I was so lucky to read this book, the baghavad ghita and poems by Rumi in the Nepalese mountains. Best combination ever!

Be Here Now and Bhagavad Gita introduced me to Eckhart Tolle. A New Earth is pretty awesome too.

yes, he obviously has no clue and hasn't broken through. osho talked about lsd in this way too and even stated it wasn't real. it's amazing how the imagination works.

If you like Eckhart, be sure to check out Thaddeus Golas as well... the two are very similar.

I'm guessing Tolle's one LSD trip was a low dose.

I'd like him to try a large dose alone in a dark room, puffing bowls on the comeup... and come out saying it just "amplifies the senses".

Well I think there is the aspect of LSD saying its not the drug that gets you high. You can eat the same amount of lsd and have completely different experiences, a horrible one or barely tripping at all or an enlightening and breakthrough experience. The experience was already there you just needed the right chemicals and timing to make it happen...lsd opens gates and activates receptors in our head, changing the chemical make up of our conciousness I have taken lots of lsd and come to the conclusion that it is the most interesting and crazy drug I know of.
