Habitat: Leaf litter below still-standing dead tree.
Gills: I didn't take one and believe the gills were white..
Stem: Whitish, looks firm and strong, gets wider at bottom I think.
Cap: bumpy but smooth, glossy'sh (maybe cause of rain), brown/white/grey color, some 3 inch diameter, some 5+.
Location: Picked in north eastern USA
Small one with 30+ Habitat: beautiful decomposed dirt next to fallen logs and under a small brush. Was with 25-30+ others not exceeding 3+ inches tall.
Gills: White/tan
Stem: 1-1.5 inch long, white/gold/tan, firm/spongy
Cap: fades from gold/brown at top to a lighter brown/tan at bottom. Cap form hat or cup shape and is half an inch in diameter
There was also this magnificient coral-looking yellow fungi growing upwards on some fallen trees. Was one of the most interesting things I've seen in a while.
Was truely a beautiful hunt with my dog. Going to do this more often..
Went back out and saw another peculiar mushroom, bright yellow;
Yesterday;
The next morning the cap opened up;
Habitat Grass below a pine
Gills Can't see
Stem Yellow/whte 2.5 inches
Cap Yellow and fades to white
Thanks in advance

1) Lepiota sp. or Agaricus sp. Check spore print color or the color of the gills on a mature specimen. 2) Looks like two species, a Psathyrella and one of the stemmed polypores
The coral looking thing could be a Ramaria.
The last one is probably an Amanita.

Thanks for your wisdom sir.. yes the Yellow I believe is an amanita as well. A large tan/sh one spawned the other week, but didnt have this yellow coloring.
So as far as spore prints go, one places a mushroom on a piece of paper, covered over with glass ~ then next morning I will have a print? Thanks in advance again, I appreciate it.

The yellow usually fades in age.

Yes, its best to put it on tinfoil so you don't have trouble seeing a white print. Make sure the mushroom is somewhat fresh and not too young or old.

At this stage where it has opened up and almost curled back~ is it a good time to print? (too late if otherwise T_T as it sits in my dark drawer)
So in the end this yellow one can turn out to be exactly like that tan/silver one eh?
I'll report when this is all said and done, so it can be listed that Amanita can be found in Connecticut.

Sometimes they still print when the cap is curled back, depends on the species.

I am not sure.

Many species of Amanita are known to occurr in Connecticut. Some are deadly, others edible, others causing delirium.
Amanita muscaria is not listed on the which mushrooms grow in my area document because it grows almost everywhere and does not contain psilocybin.
