Houston Texas looks like its doing alright
Well i looked at a small field today and found 82 grams fresh,,
All the caps were fully open..
The slugs were getting to a couple of them...
I dont have pictures this time though :\
So i drew a picture in KolourPaint (Linux MS Paint Equivalent)
^thats what that shit looked like
If its warmer there like it is here you might wanna check the fields Texans

I've seen beetles and millipedes on oysters before, but I've only found fruitfly larva in cubes so far.

In Texas you get Texas sized mushrooms with Texas sized veils.

it looks like some kind of a elastic band around the mushroom and you can see the purpleness on top a bit
Here the first one you said looked like paper or something, from another angle, and brightend up. You can see the top has purpleish spores on it but it is indeed a big flappy veil.

You're showing the underside of the veil. When the mushroom is right side up, standing untouched, the veil hangs down showing the other side, which is purple/brown with spore deposits.
Such a poor example.

Yeah, it is atypical. Look at the smaller one in background of that same picture. purple veil.
Whenever I draw mushrooms in class (which is VERY often), I always draw the veil purplish...or as purplish as I can with a black pen.

Home grown shrooms are cool, I mean what's not to like about mushrooms growing in your closet, but there's something about the thrill of searching a field full of cow shit. Plus, the excitement of seeing that patch of 4 or 5 whitish gold circles glowing in the middle of the grassy field is unbeatable. Damn, I can't wait till spring and the first find of the year!

I know there are variations in species, but the veil not falling is unusual. Wild or cultivated.
The fact that you always try and 1-up me (even when you are off base- which you usually are) shows that you're insecure.

No. That is not what it means. So far you have two people with anecdotal evidence, AND as slash and yourself admit, it's not the "most common", thus you cannot call it the "norm" for the species Ps. cubensis nor for the Texas population.

Actually, that does not follow.
I know a LOT about hunting Ps. cubensis, just like I knew a lot about hunting Ps. cyanescens before I ever found them. And then my first day in the area that Ps. cyanescens grows, i found some... I am of course not saying that it was my expertise, certainly a lot of it was chance. However, when I set eyes on them, there was NO doubt in my mind.
Furthermore, you'll note that I am the Hunting mod, not the Cultivation mod....
Don't assume I cover my eyes every time I see a wild cube, and only focus on the "perfect" cultivated specimens. I have seen HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of photos of wild and cultivated cubes.
Your reasoning is flawed.

most of these are examples of cubes with upturned veils, except for the group photo, which has some with and some without.
I think it is a trait of cubes in this area, but I'd have to research it more...

I don't think that myc is producing anymore. The mulch is all flat and depleted looking.
I'm sure sometime this year they'll put more out. 
I'm planning on redoing my beds at home, and getting some mulch that I know is good and potent. Too bad I had to work Saturday, because Living Earth Technologies had a mulch sale, $10 per cubic yard.
about $50 and I could mulch my beds and my neighbors as well, and have a pile in the back yard to squirt spores into...

by the way, I went by the place that I found all the shrooms last summer, and they put out new mulch, which is a bit different than the old mulch that had all the cubes in it, but the only thing growing in it was....
a HUGE stinkhorn!
But I think that species of stinkhorn is a dung lover, or at least tends to grow from manured mulch, maybe because of the flies it attracts, I don't know. I've only ever seen that species in mulch. So, maybe, with a little luck and better weather conditions... the myc they covered up will get some new nutrition and start colonizing this new mulch as well.
