Mushrooms the forbidden fruit?
Give me a break.
Let me explain as simply as I can, why this is a problem.
Your question is too broad. You present an if/then scenario... but the IF does not match up with the THEN. Let me show you. This is what your question suggests to those P&S regulars who are inclined to use logic to answer qustions:
IF mushrooms ARE the FORBIDDEN FRUIT, then THE BIBLE MUST ALSO BE TRUE.
See the problem?
Let me try this again.
This is what your question suggests when presented as an if/then scenario...
IF mushrooms are THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT, THEN MUSHROOMS ARE THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE and ADAM and EVE both ATE MUSHROOMS, even though GOD told them NOT TO EAT THE FRUIT, and the DEVIL, while DISGUISED AS A SNAKE, tricked EVE into eating THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT ANYWAY.
THAT is a loaded if/then scenario and it CAN NOT BE PROVEN. See why people are being snarky when they reply to your posts?
Now let's dry a few DIFFERENT if/then scenarios... some that are not quite as loaded... and see which scenario is more likely to be true.
IF prehistoric humans ate psychedelic plants and/or fungus, THEN those plants/fungi effected PREHISTORIC HUMAN'S egos and creative impulses in much the same way they effect MODERN humans.
Here's another PLAUSIBLE if/then scenario.
IF prehistoric humans ingested psychedelics, THEN they discovered psychedelics had interesting side effects.
And here's another if/then.
IF prehistoric humans thought mushrooms were special, THEN they told stories about the, "Power" of mushrooms.
Just one more if/then...
IF prehistoric man told stories about psychedelics, THEN variations of those stories would be among the first stories to be written.
That LAST if/then scenario requires no GOD, no DEVIL, no TREE OF KNOWLEDGE and no ADAM and EVE in order to be proven true.
I ask you, which scenario is more likely? If mushrooms are the fruit of knowledge, then the bible is true? OR... If prehistoric man told stories about psychedelics, then those stories would be among the first stories to be written down by man?
It is possible The Forbidden Fruit REPRESENTS a psychedelic plant/fungi... but that does not automatically make mushrooms into the TREE OF KNOWLEDGE.
Get it?

Exactly how it is related.
All these stories have no proving ground.

yeah but nothing beyond your direct experience of the moment has any proving ground... so what makes one belief more provable then anyother?

I find it hard to believe the "forbidden fruit" described in Genesis wasn't at least inspired by a real-life psychedelic plant/fungus.
Even if the Bible is fanciful and full of obvious assumptions and leaps of faith, it is also a history of the Semitic peoples, told through fable and propaganda.

What? Ok, care to present a line of argumentation that actually makes sense to explain what you just said?

What exactly makes you hard to believe that they didn't make any reference to psychedelics? Perhaps the fact that they are illegal now?

Adam and Eve ate a fruit that caused them to see the world in a totally different perspective and question everything they had taken for granted. It sounds like they had a really bad trip, which would make any psychedelic seem forbidden, regardless of its legal status.
I could easily be wrong, this is just my interpretation.

There is a BIG difference between what I actually said, and what you you are talking about in response.
Nobody can prove the bible happened exactly as written (especially Genesis). So to say: "IF fungus is the tree of knowledge THEN the bible is real." is a REAL leap of logic. Most theologians wouldn't even take THAT leap.

Nobody said that makes the bible real; but maybe mushrooms could've been the influence behind that story?

Actually, in the first post Cubie said just that. He said, true or not, it is what he believes.

This line of thinking!! Could mushrooms be the phallic inspiration for the Egyptian obelisk and therefore the WA monument?? Could the use of mushrooms... Um, maybe be more a part of our culture than we really imagine?? Do Freemasons know something of the body of Christ with their vegetation magic and pagan rites?? Cornerstone, maybe??

Lets go back to your statement: You can only try to abuse mushrooms once. Then you will either never eat them again, or never abuse them again. Mushrooms do not allow abuse. They will kick the shit out of you if you try.
I know many people who have repeatedly abused muchrooms and lots of other substances. You act as if you know that Mushrooms have a consciousness like ours. I see no real evidence of this. SeeFULL OF SHIT. And you're right I have many many more years of experience here then you do.

This discussion ends here, you refuse to make a reasonable exchange of ideas and frankly I didn't understand anything from your post
