    #7525890 - 10/16/07 10:32 PM (16 years, 5 months ago)

yeah i remember seeing an ad in high times once upon a time about some shroom kit that was like 114 bucks and it was supposedly simple and all i was to do was insert spores into the cake shit or whatever and leave it alone for 2 weeks or something and it was suposed to grow a lot of shrooms

Kits are a waste of money!
Spend some time looking around, Mushroom Info> Grow Mushrooms.

In the beginning, there is nothing really "easy" about growing shrooms. If you have the money and time to go the kit route then by all means go for it. You will however realize that there is so much more to cultivating than what a kit can provide. The one thing that I can say for kits is that it may be that first successful grow, (however puny and small it may be), that lights your inner desire and gets you HOOKED on this hobby. Once you get the bug, IT'S ON BABY! You will look back at the time you spent the money on a kit and say to yourself, " Oh my God, how could I have bought a kit! LOL! Then you'll be giving advice on why not to buy a kit.

Learn more and do it yourself. Don't buy a kit, you can get the PF Tek materials for like fifty dollars.

I also saw the add in High times and I ordered it. I have looked around but most of the company's won't send any spores to California. The EZ Gro kit is the only way I could get them here. Most of you say these kits aren't very good. Do you think they will work at all? I'd be happy with just one good flush and since this is the only way I can get anything in my state this kit is my only shot.
Has anyone ordered this kit before? Has anyone gotten good results? What does it include? I am expecting it next week and I pray it goes alright.

Thanks. It sounds ok for a first time grow I guess. Usually with shrooms I eat about 1 gram of really strong stuff and trip really hard. How many grams would I need to eat of this stuff? Would I get more than 1 flush?

I'm confused... this company sends you spores WITH a kit to grow them? How is that "safer" than sending just spores? It's like intent to produce in a box!

Most states don't prohibit the actual spores cause they don't contain any Psilocyben. It's not illegal until you actually grow the mushrooms. Only 3 states so far have prohibited the actual spores. California,Georgia, and Idaho.

It's not safer but it's just some companys make it the responsibility of checking local laws up to the customer and they will ship to any state. Other companys flatly refuse to ship to these states.

I asked this same question, and then read about 50 other threads asking the same question. In short build it yourself. This sites search engine is all you need. My TIT Incubator cost me $70 to make. 2 Boxes of half pint jars cost me $15. Two spore syringes $40. $30 for Vermiculite and Brown Rice Flower. Pressure Cooker cost me $40. Aluminum Foil, Latex Gloves(powderless), Lysol, Alcohol, Face Masks, Glovebox(still air), Lighter, Fruiting Chamber, Perlite $50. So in total it cost me $245 to buy myself enough supplies to make 20 cakes, 15 of which are colonizing quite nicely (saving 5 till i can get some wbs and peat moss). And I only have to buy Substrate, Sterilization Stuff (gloves, masks....), and Perlite when you run out. All of which is dirt cheap. Hope this helped.

ROfl,

TiT: 24$
3 syringes: 44$( /w s&h from spores101 )
12 pint jars: 8$
Verm: 8$
brf: 4$

Perlite: 6$
Grow Chamber: 7$

-- total: 101$

idk why its cheaper here in the southern parts.
but its nothing for me to grow a few batches.

** ( plus 20-30 more for the disinfectants, meters and batteries. )
