I would say just get over it.
I remember my pastor at Lutheran church. He was one of the kindest men I've ever met, genuinely very loving and never worrying people with stories about hell and damnation. He still sends me handwritten birthday cards wishing me happiness, good health, and blessings. I think it's really beautiful.
As long as he is not trying to convert you, I would say don't try to judge him as if your experiences make your knowledge of reality superior to his.
