AURORA, Ore. -- An Oregon State Police trooper confiscated about 40 pounds of marijuana from a Gervais man Monday night after stopping him for traffic violations on Interstate 5 near Aurora.
The man, who is an Oregon Medical Marijuana Plan registered cardholder, far exceeded the marijuana possession limits.
A trooper working in a construction zone on southbound Interstate 5 stopped a Lexus for speed and lane change violations and smelled a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle.
The 49-year-old driver said it was medical marijuana. The trooper found seven 18-gallon plastic tubs filled with marijuana – approximately forty pounds total.
It was being transported from a registered grow site in The Dalles to his Gervais residence, which is not a registered grow site, according to police.
The man was allowed to keep the amount he is legally allowed to possess, said OSP Sergeant Dale Young.
Under Oregon's Medical Marijuana Act, a registry identification card holder may possess up to six mature marijuana plants and 24 ounces of usable marijuana, and may grow marijuana for no more than four individual card holders.
The remaining marijuana was seized.
The man's name was withheld pending a prosecutorial decision.

As bad as that is, at least he got to keep what he was legally allowed to have. If you can get medical marijuana don't break the rules dammit! It just shows that you can't follow rules and the system can't work. Ruining it for all the needy just because of one person.

I think medical marijuana is bogus. Even If it really worked in the long run it would just be used as an excuse to let a small minority use it while everyone else is prosecuted for using it for also valid reasons. I think medical marijuana should be boycotted, it's not like medical marijuana dispensaries and legal users don't get raided anyways.What's the point?
