All of my poppies have really thin stems and are falling over. Is it normal?

They always do that. It's not before they are a bit bigger they start growing vertically.

u did know poppies are a winter crop in aus right?

Arent they meant to be sprouted in winter and harvested during summer?

they dont like hot weather man.
and the growth cycle is only like 3-4 months, depending on conditions of course.
u should start them at the beginning of winter and probably harvest in spring/early summer...

do the farmers grow them round your area? or are the poppy plantations further south?

Thats perfect then, I did exactly that. nah the poppy plantations are waaaay south of me down in tasmania.
