 DMT extraction pictoral **1.5g crystals + trip report**

after freeze-precipitation I ended up with 3.12 grams of impure DMT:
I used a different tek to extract, but I followed the marsofold directions exactly for the step to pour ammonia over the crystals to clean it, it ended up turning into a goo, it didn't wash it at all so I stopped the process and let it dry out. here's what it looks like now.. it's darker and I lost .70 grams:
I know of all the various ways to purify and clean, but can you give me suggestions as to which is the best way? I don't want to follow directions again and end up with a fucked up product.

Did you use powder by chance? Also, did you heat it? I used powder and ended up with something that looks pretty similar, after washing it though you will get white crystals. For cleaning, I always used naptha. Also, A/B extraction for DMT is a waste of time, next time go straight to base. Read up on the different teks @ http://www.dmt-nexus.com/

hmm interesting.
this is what i would do, i highly reccomend you follow it.
re-dissolve everything into naptha. use a solution of water at pH3 and was the naptha with the water. separate the water and the naptha, and you could maybe freeze precip or evaporate this naptha, but it is mostly fats now. then basify this water to pH 12-13 and do a couple of pulls with naptha. evaporate this naptha or freeze precip and i gaurtantee pure white crystals.
i have done this with acacia bark, because acacia is very very fatty, and it is awesome at cleaning the fats.

no I didn't use powder, I used the liquid. I had the crystals in a coffee filter and poured the ammonia liquid over the crystals, they ammonia was supposed to go straight through the crystals pulling out a lot of the oils and gunk, however it just pooled up, none went through and I did it VERY slowly. there was no heat.
I didn't do an A/B extraction, to sum it up I did a few defats with the bark powder, added naphtha and add the mix to the basified solution, let the layers separate and sucked out the naptha/dmt, let it supersaturate then freeze precip. then washed with ammonia.

was the ammonia ice-cold? if it wasnt ice-cold this explains your problem

MH doesn't really need an A/B extraction. It doesn't look that bad, all he really needs to do is wash it with naptha. My DMT was yellow, I did a wash and it came out white.

yes the ammonia was chilled to about 35-40 degrees F

So you are saying that none of the ammonia went thru the filter, or it did, but the dmt gooed up?

i spread the crystals out thinly over the filter so the liquid could go through easier, i poured just a little and nothing went through, poured some more and it just kept pooling up in the filter, i squeezed it a little to get the excess ammonia out and i guess that's where i lost the .7
fapjack can you give me the steps that YOU did to wash with naphtha?
everybody: which would be better, retrospect or fapjack's method?

I don't know why the ammonia didn't go through the filter, but you really need to repeat that step.

Did you have the filter over a funnel, or inside a cup?

i'm not using ammonia again though, i'll freeze-precip over and over before I ever use ammonia again.

Well you could do that, but you will lose more product. Instead of using a funnel, do a run over a glass with no DMT in it, thats how I did it at least. That way it doesn't clog.

ok some people may not agree with me when i say this but, i dont mind yellow dmy. in my opinion it doesent need to be more pure. try smokeing it it just takes alittle more and smokes alittle different. i guess one reason i say this is because i never really end up with a product that dirty. its normaly pretty clear when i get my spice.

It does, which is why he should redo it. Washing it like 4 times with different naptha each time will work, but will also yield much less than if he redoes the ammonia wash.

Theres NAOH in it, smoking it will be really harsh and it might actually be dangerous.

okay so I guess the question is what can I do, instead of washing with ammonia, to get a clean white product without losing much crystal?
I just don't wanna wash with ammonia again because I only ran it over for at least 4 seconds and I lost almost a gram.
