Simple Question (ph-related)
    #7313307 - 08/20/07 08:57 AM (5 years, 9 months ago)

Hey guys, I'm forgetful.

Adding fertilizers lowers ph, correct?

Dolomite lime neutralizes ph, correct?

What can be substituted for dolomite lime to correct too acidic soil?

not all "fertilizers" lower ph. Some raise ph.

and dolomite lime buffers your ph. It will never raise your ph beyond 7. Unlike things like hydrated lime that will rocket your ph up WAY past 7 if you over do it. It works much much faster too. making it easy to burn plants with it. I would only ever use dolomite. thats just me though. and i use the fine flour type stuff. Not the prilled kind or the thick gritty kind that take forever to become available.

i use dolomite in my soil mixes for MJ. 1-2 tbsp. to the gallon of soil. peat based mixes get 2.
