...quick idea, Graham...about your exposed wood...:
i know we often forget about some products "intended" uses
but tacking tyvek to wood protects it from moisture buildup and mold
...that was step 2 of siding a house, 
after step 1>ripping all the shit off the house...
i put up siding and windows for a brief period...

Great idea and yet another use for tyvek in this hobby. Atleast Dupont is useful for something.

I use the 4 mil 12 inch lay-flat diameter item #252412 it's about $100 shipped to your door for 1075 feet. I figure that makes me about 300 + 3 foot long bags (the substrate fits in the 3 feet. There's about an extra 6-12 inches per bag though where they are tied)

Just had to put in my two cents here. First off f*cking beautiful grows dude!!!! 2nd regarding mold on 2x4's, I have renovated many unfinished damp basements with mold and mildew problems. If the mold has already begun to grow, simply covering it with something will not do in fact it may "help" it grow. The mold itself must be "killed" by using a solution available @ home depot or a real strong bleach/water mixture. After thorough drying paint the 2x4's and walls around them (paint everything if you want!!) with a bathroom thype paint containing an anti-microbial "anti-mold" paint it may be advertised as something like this (zinsser makes on called perma-white). The paint is about $25 a gallon. Like I said this is something I actually know a lot about, if you follow this method I can pretty much guarantee the problem will not return.

Update! (09-03-08)
Since last year I have been working on the planning, and construction of a new grow room. It is 10' by 20' and constructed from a carport frame set on a concrete pad specifically poured for this new grow room. It will have ventilation, and air filtration and will be humidified by a Aquafog® Hydro SS 700™ set on a humistat.
The concrete floor will have a drain so that when the grow room is cleaned out weekly it had a place to drain the water.
I have the concrete forms set and the sub grade will be added and compacted this week and concrete will probably be poured next week.
I have yet to design the racking system used for hanging 20lb bags, but I will be thinking about it in the next few weeks.
The carport frame will be overlaid with 1 layer of 4 year white greenhouse film, and then a layer or two of R-13 wall insulation and then another layer of white greenhouse film. This will insulate the grow room while climate is being controlled.
Climate control will be controlled by ventilation cycles. (summer months)During the night when temperatures are low, ventilation will be adjusted to turn on till the inside temperature reaches the temperature outside. During the day very few air exchanges will occur in order to retain the cooler temperature obtained during the night.
(winter months) Heating will be obtained in the opposite fashion of the summer months. More air exchanges will be run during the day, at the hottest time of the day to obtain heat during the day, and at night, minimal air exchanges will be used to retain that warm air.
When more funding is obtained, a heat pump with an over-sized evaporator will be used to heat and cool the structure when means of ventilation are not adequate.
Lighting will consist of several waterproof HO Fluorescent light fixtures set on a timer.
There will also be some changes in the way I process straw, but very similar to how I do it now.
I will be adding pictures when I get them of steps on how I will construct the grow room.

Site prep has been done, graded, forms set, 3/4-0 rock laid and compacted with plate compacter.
So far costs:
Wood forms: had in stock no additional cost
stakes/nails $20.46
3/4-0 rock: $50
I will be installing a drain into this so when that is complete I will update photos.

Hello Cryogenicz!
First, thanks for this great thread, Ive read it through and through a few times now.
I have got a few questions. Even though Ive read through the thread a few times the size of your fruiting room has managed to slip my sight. I'm also interested in your incubation room and environment. Do you colonize your logs horizontal? How much incubation space does it take for your biweekly run?
How many logs will you be able to fit roughly in your new 10 x 20 ?
What humistat will you be using?
Do you think its possible to increase your yields with higher spawn rates? Or with using supplements or additional substrate ingredients?

Thanks! I have worked really hard to get at this point and I appreciate the compliment!
Grow room size is 7ft high, 7ft wide, 11ft long. This grow room is now closed and oyster mushroom production has halted till the new grow room is up.
Spawn run room was just a spare closet in my house. They sat upright during the spawn run. I will convert my current grow room that you see pictured into my spawn run room. You really only need double the space that you will need for your weekly production. For instance, if you want to make 5 - 20lb bags every week, then you need space enough for 10 - 20lb bags. The reason is because your spawn run may run for 1-2 weeks.
I was hoping for about 90 20lb logs 3 rows of 30 bags per row and a production of 15 bags a week, which should produce about 75-100lbs a week.
I have looked at documents that state that up to a certain percentage it is not beneficial to add more spawn. I intend on testing some supplements though.

Concrete has been poured. Started the pour at 10am, and didn't finish until 3:30pm. I was pretty tired afterwords as I always am when I pour concrete. A small mistake was made when pouring the concrete, I forgot about the drain and to rod a small slope to the drain, so it was encrusted in about 1/2 inch of concrete. I have since broken a hole where the drain is and in a week when the concrete is a lot harder I will grind it smooth and bevel around the drain.

Is the county making you treat the drain as gray water, or can you just dump it into your flower beds outside untreated? The reason I ask is I'll be burying a shipping container into the side of my mountain this winter or next spring, and I'd like to just set it where the opening is 6" or so lower so water will drain out to the lawn.

The county says I can drain it on my property anywhere I want, as long as it is not draining into any lakes rivers or streams. Since the drain will only drain water from the growroom, which at most will be a biodegradable cleaning solution, it will be perfectly acceptable to drain it.
My drain leads into a drain system already in place that drains to the side of my property where rain water is also diverted.
If you look closely on the second picture, you will see the pipe coming out of the slab on the right side going towards the white building. Its very difficult to see, I'll have to take more pictures of it for all to see.
