Charlotte, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers and Alcohol Law Enforcement agents went undercover outside the Widespread Panic concert Friday, looking for underage drinking and drugs. Dozens of people never even made it inside, instead they spent the night in jail.
As people tailgated before the Widespread Panic concert at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, undercover officers wandered through the crowd.
“We're looking for any illegal drugs, any dangerous drugs,” said ALE agent Omar Qureshi.
ALE agents work numerous concerts, but Friday night they were expecting a lot of drug use.
“Maybe it's a crowd that follows them, or a type of reputation that comes with this crowd or group,” said Qureshi.
Officers say they found plenty of illegal drug use. One officer confiscated 25 pounds of mushrooms hidden in chocolate bars. They also found ecstasy, marijuana, pipes, Xanax, mushrooms, even LSD concealed in the middle of a sweetart.
Officers arrested at least 80 people on drug charges, and others for underage drinking.
“Tonight the big difference was the dangerous drugs that were there,” said Qureshi.
A lot of dangerous drugs that are now off the streets.
“Hopefully it's a safer place tonight because of that,” said Qureshi.
Officers say the crowd that in the past has been volatile, but Friday night no one was hurt. That’s the idea, getting the drugs and alcohol out of the mix before the concert begins prevents fights, assaults, and people home driving under the influence.

how can they punish them? they cant punish them by weight of the chocolate. hell, chocolate weighs a lot. can do do a lab test to figure out how much psilocybin is in each unit i guess? that sounds right to me.
but wait! they are trying to get little kids hooked by flavoring the shrooms! those bastards!

Seriously how bad would someone have to be gang raped, beaten, and mentally tortured as a child to want to become a cop and fuck up a concert and someone's night like this? Like what is the mental process behind this "Hahaha I got this youngin's weed and taking his ass to jail, I'm such a protector of the people... why don't my parents love me?" I simply will never understand the mental process of the pigs who do this for a living.

Two dried grams of shrooms w have about 10-12 milligrams of chemicals in them.
And lets not forget about the Pink Floyd concert in LA where they arrested about 800 to 1,000 people carryi9ng drugs and alcohol. They made to major bust at that concert on two different nights.
I do believe eventually all charges were dropped.

quit being a tard, its their job. Its what they get paid to do. Its not their fault that drugs are illegal, its their job to enforce the laws in place. I'm sure many of them would rather be chasing after rapists, burglars, con artists, murderers etc and would rather not bust kids with mushroom chocolates.

Their mental process is much of the downfall of mankind. Everyone is extremely biased in their views. They have grown up being told drugs are bad all of their lives. They are utterly incapable of seeing it any other way. This is a problem with people in general...

thats the biggest bunch of bullshit ever. and people use it as an excuse all of the fucking time. They chose to work as a cop, they then chose to go to the concert and they then chose to bust the people there. There was never anyone holding a gun to thier head forcing them. Being under a certain authority figure does not absolve you from your actions. The nazi's who were just following orders were still guilty of thier crimes, they could have refused.

thats a sweeping generalization, you're turning cops into brainwashed monsters who just want to fuck everyone over as much as possible. I've talked to undercover cops and they make it pretty obvious that they'd rather be doing things a little more important. At the same point, they feel that its somewhat important to prevent big problems. People at concerts drink, and do other elicit substances then hop in a car. Sure, not everyone drives like a retard while under the influence, but those who do can put lives in danger and cause tragedies.

how is that a lie? I never said they'd rather not be an undercover cop. As for lying and cheating, its what they're taught to do in training. Do you think an undercover cop feels good after a night of busting kids at a concert?
Back in high school and undercover cop talked to our class and told us what they do, how they do it and how to avoid ever having one show up.

the last and only time I went to a WSP show was 7 years ago in W-S NC, and I found acid on sweetarts there, so it was pretty wild to just read that.
