LAND OF THE FREE: Californian Emiliano Gomez Gonzolez was pulled
over in Nebraska. State troopers searched his car and found $124,700 in
cash in a cooler in the back seat. Gonzolez said he had tried to buy a
truck with the cash, but it was sold by the time he got there, and he
had hidden it in the cooler to avoid robbery. But a police dog detected
traces of drugs on the money, so police confiscated it. Gonzolez was
not found in possession of any drugs, and he was not charged with any
crime. A federal court ruled police had to return the cash, but the 8th
U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals recently overturned that decision, saying
that because the money "may have been" the proceeds of a drug deal, the

that sucks. doesn't like 90% of all money have traces of cocaine or other drugs on it? i'm pretty sure this article has already been posted on the shroomery in the past though.

They get around it by saying it's a civil thing, not a criminal thing.

Drug dogs are TRAINED TO SMELL OUT MONEY. That is fact. When a drug dog indicates on money it does not in any way mean that there are any traces of drugs on it.
I had a friend have $500 under a mattress sniffed out. It was crisp bills straight from the bank. They were going to keep it until he produced the withdrawl slip from the bank.
I've also seen videos of drug dogs being trained to smell for money.
Cops are nothing more than thieves with badges. If you didn't realize already, this article should make it clear why they train dogs to smell out money.

Someone told me one in every ten one hundred dollar bills has traces of coke on it. Don't know for real though.
