I have read the articles on TiTs and I don't have extra tubs laying around. So in the mean time I am using a rubbermaide container that fits in a 5 gallon bucket. I have a heating blanket in the fleece blanket and my jars inside the rubbermaide. I know this is a hard core fire hazard so I am wondering. I turn it off when I am asleep or not home to watch it. I don't want to burn my house down. Is it acceptable to raise the heat lower the heat raise the heat lower the heat. Or is that just asking for contaminations? Should I just leave it off until I get a TiT?

Not many people recommend incubating anymore. Room temperature is fine for colonization.

incubating is fine, just not above 80-81*F, incubating at room temp, causes VERY slow colonization.

There's a good 15 degree band of what's considered "room temperature".
So long as your house is around 75, that simply will not be the case.

'Incubation temp' should be taken out of the mushroom nomenclature and replaced with 'colonization temp' which is great at normal room temperature, which is 74F to 78F. RR

Strain shouldn't significantly affect ideal growth parameters.
p4k: Why would you treat spawn any differently? If anything, the temp in the middle of a quart jar or spawn bag is going to be higher than that in the middle of a half-pint BRF jar.
