Goin on a hunt in humboldt county
    #2123683 - 11/19/03 07:14 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

Im driving up to humboldt friday morning for the weekend, and plan on doing a little hunting trip up there. I'm wondering if this is a good place to look, or if any surrounding areas are. Also, im aware that cyans grow on mulch.. but not cedar right? Where else will they grow? And should i be loooking near the beach, or more in the woods. Also, im aware p. subbs grow up there too. What kind of areas do they grow in? Thanks for all the help guys.. its appreciated.

i can say there are cyans in the area right now, from oral account, but i can not divuldge the location, and can say that the areas where they are growing is well watched by authorities. there are many edibles up in the area and as you can see in my latest thread, there are many, many mushrooms of all types.

have a good trip. it's a beautiful area and the ocean is wonderful in the fall.

It'd be great to get an exact location.. but i know im not gonna get that info from anyone on this board. What i was asking is what kind of locations should i be looking in? I've heard community gardens are a good place, but what else? This is going to be a long hunt, and i dont want to come back empty handed. Thanks again.

looking in areas that use hardwood chips and bark as mulch or ground cover for supressing weeds and that keep the mulch fresh every copuple of years is a good start. good luck man

as a note, and not to be rude, but this info is all contained within this sit3, and infact, in the FAQ, wich is required reading before posting questions here.

Awesome.. ill keep that in mind.  Well so far what we are taking for the trip is my field guide, camera, and ice chest full of beer   I'm wondering if there are any discreet ways to pick mushrooms so it isnt so obvious.  Im not about to go to jail for picking a mushroom.  What exactly is the punishment for getting caught?

posession of a schedule I controlled substance. i think this makes it a misdemeaner or fellony, depending on factors i'm unsure of. i'm sure there would be an accompanying fine or increased sentance if you where caught in a state park.

i somehow doubt that would go over at all.
the police in the area are all aware of the mushrom situation, and have been for many, many years.

1: why didn't you read the rules; when they explicitly prohibit soliciting specific locations?

2: why pull up a thread that is 4 years old to do it?
