PR's are the only strain i've grown that have grown like that. they grew small and skinny, but i had a lot of them. they were more potent because i ended up with a bunch of small shrooms, which is why i believe people say that PR are more potent. but i've never had a problem getting them to pin and ill probley grow them after my GT grow.

workman says that its two DIF species taking over the same cake. amazons on the bottom. you can see that better here,
but, the jury is still out I guess. it seems to have stopped growing...

No, jury's not out. That's not a cube on top, though it may be an edible. It is definitely cubensis on the bottom.

Two posts by the same guy. He knocked up three jars with one syringe of BHT cubes. One contaminated, one grew cubes as planned, and the third grew what appear to be oyster mushrooms. All from the same syringe.
Meaning: his syringe had non-cube spores in it, too. Not mold spores, but mushroom spores.
The result of having two different types of spores in a single syringe would be that you could have cakes that all grow from one type, separate cakes that grow into different types, or sometimes both types of mushroom on the same cake. That's what you're seeing now. On a small scale, certain spores become dominant over others as their mycelium spreads. In this case, your mystery shroom's spores became dominant in part of the cake while your cube spores became dominant near the bottom, there.
Send your pics to spores101. Let them know and they'll give you a replacement.
Meanwhile, keep fruiting, I guess! Take some spore prints from your cubes, and you at least know that those shouldn't be tainted.

so send em a pic (obviously) without the cubes visable, and ask "WTF?"(nicely). or should I tell them that there WAS amazon, "but I couldn't study it b/c this edible." "...(this edible) was tripping and kept getting in the way!" (maybe leave that out)lol but yeah! thanks for the INFO and links fiddus. you're the shit.

I guess I learned something new then. I was always under the impression that you couldn't have 2 different species from one cake. I heard from someplace that the stronger, faster growing of the two would over-take the other. Interesting.

You have cubenis growing on the bottom of the cake, right? Let those mature and take a sporeprint. Very simple.

Very key pics. these are what that jar looked like.

Notice how, the myc from the two were coming twoards each other. the one on the top of the jar,is now, obviously the bottom. but that other myc, started growing up twoards it. my question... how did that spore get to the bottom of the jar? did it "Jump" thru the substrate? or is this a sign I didn't boil the jars long enough? Thanks yall, this is ending up to be a pretty educational thread!

If this were a "very educational thread" then you would have read it more thoroughly, and already had the answer to this last question.
It was most likely from some other mushroom species' spores being in the same cubensis syringe.
The spores are in the water, Gold', the water drips down the sides of the jar when you inoculate carrying the spores to the bottom of the jar.
The spores that germinated and dominated the substrate at the bottom of the jar were the edible strain while the myc at the top of the jars is obviously a cubensis.
If you didn't boil your jars long enough then you would have a variety of other molds growing such as green, black, and even red. MMmmMMmm, gotta love the lipstick mold.
So...there's my answer (maybe this time you'll listen instead of ignoring it?)
IDK, but if your posts don't increase in quality soon then I'm going to have to put you on ignore (again).
P.S.-The mods don't like an asshat any more than the next guy.

mods- see? thats the kind of stuff that gets my threads deleted. I have already stated my position. and I quote "I am, whatever you say I am, if I wasn't,then why would I say I am?" -Eminem- ...but don't ban him or nothing, I like him.(it) he points out how we judge other based on insecurites of ourself. (i.e. "He obviously thinks that people think that HE in fact is an ASSHAT (or whatever)." or that HIS pics are shitty. or... you get my point. Girls do that alot. Dutch are you a girl? lamo@ you (still)

I just like how you can literally watch a mushroom grow. i had so much fun when they first pinned. I have a question about harvesting. Do you harvest when the veil breaks or can it grow a considirable amount more? Thats the only ? I have now

before the veil breaks is for potency, after is for prints so, depending on your appetite I guess.

The biggest reason for harvesting right after the veil breaks is to print, that part is right. But also, some say that getting rid of the spores improves taste. (I myself have never minded the taste of mushrooms) Some people will tell you that leaving the spores in increases potency, which of course is idiotic. The spores have no psilocybin, and we can prove this irrevocably by the fact that we can ship spores legally. It's merely a taste issue/printing issue as to when you harvest. Also, even if you don't intend to print, you are going to want to harvest before they drop spores, and let them drop outside of your FC, or else all the spores make a serious mess, and they will be flying around your house.
