using mycelium to inoculate jars
    #7025533 - 06/09/07 07:37 AM (5 years, 11 months ago)

does this work, becuase i was looking at my pf jars the other day and wondered if it was possible to make some more jars of brf and transfer some of the mycelium to the new jar....

would the small ammount of mycelium colanize the jar or would the risk of contamination be to high becuase of the fact that you would have to open the jars?

or could you steralize the jars with the mycelium in it? would the heat kill the mycelium if i did that?

This is done all the time with grain spawn do a search roe "Grain to grain transfers" I don't know how you would go about doing it with cakes but I'm sure it could be done,if they are fully colonized they don't need any real precaution to avoid contamination,and no you cant sterilize jars that are growing or you will kill your mycelium
