One of the largest marijuana crops ever found in Ohio

Bust of 10,000 marijuana plants said to be among Ohio's largest May 30, 2007 - ohio.com
ORIENT, Ohio - A hunt for salamanders in a state wildlife area south of Columbus turned up one of the largest marijuana crops ever found in Ohio, a state investigator said Wednesday.
"We got about 10,455 plants. That's big. That's a whole bunch of marijuana," said Scott Duff, a special agent supervisor with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.
The plants had a potential value of more than $10 million, based on the fact that a mature one will produce about a pound of the drug worth roughly $1,000 on the street, Duff said. Authorities estimated that the marijuana patch was one of the five largest ever uncovered in the state.
The discovery was made nearly two weeks ago after a state wildlife biologist noticed a campsite while looking for salamanders in the Mackey Ford Wildlife Area in Pickaway County. Near the tent, investigators found a virtual greenhouse operation with marijuana growing in plastic cups and in the ground beneath a tarp, Duff said.
Authorities have made no arrests and have no suspects. They removed the plants Wednesday after figuring the two or three people who'd been staying in the tent weren't coming back, Duff said.
"They may have been spooked for some reason. Who knows?" he said.
The tent was stocked with food and other living supplies, and there was a well and a latrine that had been dug by hand.

A pound?! BULLSHIT!
You're lucky to get more than a few ounces off each plant. A half-pound would be incredible. A four ounce plant looks about as big as it can get. And when you have thousands of plants, there's no way you could get each to produce such gargantuan yields.

Hillbilly, sounds to me like you need to look for better genetics.. Plants can easily get 1/2 to a full LB outside.
I had a afghani plant get 13 feet (just shy of 14) and nearly 2LB.
I always get 4 ounces/plant indoors...

Yep, it's all about the strain. 3 years ago i grew a plant outdoors that yielded over 12 ounces. It was a massive bushy plant that grew super dense buds. It looked something like this
That sucks that they found all those plants, they would have grown a shit load of weed.

My dad's record is 2 1/4 lbs of dank headie nuggets off one plant. It's all how you grow and what genetics you started with.

Whatever, $1000 per LB is an extremely cheap amount. these cops are ignorantly getting their brick schwag prices mixed up with the better stuff. I am almost certain these guys weren't out to grow a bunch of schwag.

Yeah, I've grown outdoors and had plants go 12-13 feet without hardly any work. A pound a plant with good genetics is not a bad estimate.
And $1,000 a pound is way low. I've never heard of good bud going that cheap per elbow unless you're scooping up 50+ pounds.
For once, the cops street-value estimate is probably on the conservative side.
Too bad no photos!

I've seen prices from 350 a pound to 3600 a pound. That over a 10x variability.
I know in Wisconsin prices were double what I'd pay in Texas. California ranges alot depending on where you go, and who you know.

I know you can get some good soil grown weed, but in mass quantities it is a little more difficult. That being said, an elbow here in TX goes for $250- $425. Cheaper if you get quantity.

2 oz. per plant is a good yield for indoor. You might be able to get 4+ oz from a good outdoor plant.
You guys are buying into fishtail bullshit if you believe that people are getting pounds per plant. You couldn't even get that if you supercropped it and staked each branch. Bullshit tales of 13 foot high plants and pounds of bud per plant help nobody except the DEA.
If anyone tells you they got more than 5 oz. per plant then they are talking wet weight and they are still exaggerating it.

Do cops dry and cure bud before weighing it?
What kind of weed are you buying for $400 a pound?
I've spent a lot of time up in Humboldt and Ukiah...good bud never goes for even $1200 a pound.

Of course not. They also usually count the entire plant too. Seeds, stems, leaves and all.
