smoking FRESH marijuana
    #6791532 - 04/15/07 05:36 PM (16 years, 11 months ago)

like just picked
has anyone done it...
I'm assuming it wil get you high, but does drying it increase thc in anyway? or is it just easier to smoke dry?
this was just a question that popped into my mind, not that I have any fresh marijuana plants to try it on lol

Freshly-picked bud has more moisture and shouldn't crumble if you rub it between your fingers.  I've smoked some pretty fresh dro before, and my god was it excellent. I can't guarantee that it was because it was fresh though, since I've smoked some pretty dried out stuff and still gotten pretty damn high.

Still, fresh weed is always good.

EDIT: Sorry about the misinformation, I meant freshly-cured, not freshly-picked.  My mistake, next time I'll only comment on shit I know.

I disagree. Fresh weed is shitty and doesn't give you nearly the potential of the potency that the bud could be. You wanna leave it hanging in a pitch black area until the outside of the buds are crispy but the stem is still bendy. Then put it in a pitch black box until the stems crack when bent. Then put it in a mason jar indefinitely opening it once a day to burp it. After about 1-2 weeks in the mason jar is about as soon as I would smoke it. Keeping it in the dark reduces the chlorophyll in the plant and converts it into sugars (flavor). Drying + curing your bud DOES increase potency, and IMO, dramatically. Waiting the AT LEAST 3 weeks to do this process is ENTIRELY worth it for the potency increase compared to smoking it fresh. Take it or leave it though.

Good advice. I know some growers who cure the bud for months before even thinking about smoking it. I say it's well worth the wait to properly cure your bud. 2 weeks minimum.

Yeah, people will spend 3-4 mos growing excellent weed, only to rush the dry/cure stage because they are impatient. Going faster leads to disaster.

i have smoked my own fresh weed and i have also cured some of the same weed, it is definitely worth the wait. since i usually have at least a couple of plants i use one for smoking something while i cure the rest. but if you have only one, defnitely cure it.

what happens to moisture when it is near a flame. it turns to steam.

the moisture left in the bud could turn to steam and burn your throat.

procede with caution.

Fresh gets you high for maybe 30 minutes. Curing can make an amazing difference. I think bud should be cured for at least 3 weeks in airtight mason jars for the best results.

fresh weed "just picked" as mikey asked wouldn't burn... if you speed dry it, it gives you a headache and you get a really green taste, wouldn'T describe it as "high" by any means. Personally at least i don't find it has any effect other than giving headaches. then again i'm seen as a bit of a weed snob...

Let it dry naturally....(hang it up to dry) and then you'll be good to go. However, after it's dried it should still be be cured for awhile to gain maximum flavor & scent....and I've also noticed that it seems to get stronger as well, though that may all be in my head.

no, its not all in your head, curing can increase THC percentages

If you absolutley have to have some to smoke now the best way I found to quick dry it would be to use a hair dryer and a paper sack. It still really kills the potential for the good green taste and awesome high. But if you just want to smoke a few buds off your plant because you can't wait this is the way to go. Don't use the oven or the microwave! As others have said wet weed won't smoke.

I'm not sure how any of you can give fresh (just picked off the plant) weed, even if it is awesome, any credit. It is rediculous to try and attempt to smoke it. The water content in it will make it last an ungodly long time, and every hit will be a steamy/weak hit, not to mention the weed will burn rediculously unevenly.

Just wait a week and let it dry!

Sorry to revive a truly dead thread, but I had to add that drying converts some THC-acid into normal delta-9 THC. And I agree that fresh bud is very harsh compared to dried.

even sticky bud is very hard to light on fire. i had sum massively sticky kb once that woulda been much more amazing if it was cured properly and it was just a lil bit more dry.
