I used a shower cap - I found a packet of 4 caps for a $1....
I do have a fan in the same room as the bucket/s, blowing kind of over the top of the bucket/s. The fan comes on for 30 mins 6 times a day (on a timer).
Other than that, the very occasional misting - if the surface looked a little dry, but only did that around 4 times in total.
Doesnt get much easier/cheaper than that!
Thanks for the compliments guys!

I do plan on it - just very busy at the moment... (and a tad lasy)
Its really a great way for the beginner cultivator to go semi bulk, very very very cheaply and hassle free.
Ok, heres some more pics - these are 4 buckets of PE6 (clone) -
And only four buckets yeilded this -
Which dried to just over 6 oz. Crazy...

Shower caps!? ya crafty bastard! If that is what those 4 buckets produced then they can be very beneficial for those with limited space.
Also what is the exact height on those buckets?

They are 10L buckets so around about 30-40 cms tall - but the shower caps are quite loose fitting so the shrooms have room to push up against the cap and keep growing if they have to (which they often do).
EmbreO, are you an Aussie?

Looks fine man, just go to the hardware store and get some cheap 10 Litre buckets (not sure what the measurement would be in gallons - look up a conversion) and give it crack!
Make sure you post some pics when your done.

Very nice _OttO_! I've been preparing to do a similar setup with a 3L pitcher like this one that I used to dunk my cakes. Got cakes going in two pitchers just like that right now but w/ no holes...think next time'll have to be a casing w/ holes.

Looks perfect PatternofChaos - do make sure you include the holes whether its a casing or not, the humidity can be controlled a lot easier than the fae - its better to have things a lot fresher but a tad dry and adding the odd spray from a spray bottle, then it is to have things going stagnant.

Yeah I realized about the holes a little late. The cakes are in there right now and doing fine so far (I've had a lot of days off of work so they've been getting fanned constantly). The thing I use to make holes is my soldering iron and I don't know how soon I'd want to put them in after I've made a stinky hole. Actually the perlite in one of my pitchers is starting to smell like feet and a rinse last night didn't do the trick...maybe I'll prepare the remaining pitcher I have in the way you're recommending and transfer. *scuttles off to start a new project*
I'd wish you the best of luck but it appears you don't need it

What is the diameter of those holes?
How many would you recommend?
Is that just plain ol' micropore tape?

The hole is big enough to stick my middle finger through.
I put four holes around the top - and two closer to the substrate level, more or less is up to you - it was purely a guess, Id use more if there was no fan in the room (or bigger holes).
Yes it is just plain old micropore tape.

Thanks OttO!
You've inspired me to take a stab at one of these "monobuckets".
I'll be sure to post the results

BTW Otto...minutes later I went to the kitchen, turned on the stovetop fan to high, and went to soldering. My girlfriend took the camera today so no pics but I made about 8 3/4" holes or so around perlite level and hydrated a new batch of perlite so my one pitcher doesn't smell like feet. Thinking about doing my other pitcher but I may just let it go so I can compare results. Gyah so torn.

Here's some pics of the buckets with the shower cap on -
When your substrate is colonising and the casing pinning, you can leave the cap closer to the substrate to increase humidity a bit -
When your fruits are maturing you can pull it up to suck in some fresh air and give them room to mature -
The shower cap acts like a "lung" where by pulling it up or pushing it down you can suck in or expel air through the micropore covered holes, therefore an easy way to fan your buckets if you feel the need to, and the air is also filtered.
Although if you have an electric fan in the room pointing roughly in the direction of the buckets you dont need to do this.

I'd say compare the results - best way to see if what you did was the best option.
