puffy white mycelium on cakes * 1
    #6678224 - 03/16/07 08:36 PM (17 years, 1 month ago)

one of my pf tek cakes that I birthed a week ago has grown an afro of white puffy mycelium all over it. It looks like cotton candy. What is this? Does this mean its going to pin soon? Also Some of my cakes had spots of contamination, and I cut the spots off and put them in my terrarium. Should I have done this or should I just throw them out?

A pic would do wonders for this case, but it sounds like Cobweb mold. No good.

I dont think that he needs to throw them out if they have a spot that

he can try and remedy.  If the contams dont come back then you are

fine.

i should have explained it better.  i didn't even understand what i had posted, lol.

the white puffy cake is fine.  the cakes with contamination probley should have been thrown out, but can also be kept, if you like gambling.  the mold spores from them(assuming they were sporulating) could have spread to the other cake.

how often are you giving them fresh air?

white puffy mycelium can be contamination, but it could also be cottony growth of your shroom myc.  i've had good luck with that, but "the mushroom cultivator" says that could result in a lighter yeild due to a substrain with poor fruiting capabilities taking over. Pictures would help either way!! i have OI that does that, but yeilds huge shroomies, but i also had a z-strain do that, and i got one fucking shroom.

I think that i is strain dependant, but i have only witnessed this (if it is not infact contamination) via multispore inoculation.
