Haha, nice site! I agree, but I think it should be included as a link in one of the pre-existing stickies.

Nice. Here's one I look at as well. There's numerous molds with descriptions that include characteristics, allergen, toxin production, health effects and even conidia dimensions with a lot of them. Microscopic images as well with a lot of the molds. It's a great sight IMO.

Umm upon reading about our common T. harzianum on the site, I found this:
Quote:
Habitat: Soil, endophytic within woody tissue of cacao trees. Frequently utilized in biological control applications. Incorrectly identified as cause of Green Mold disease of commercial mushrooms (see Samuels et al., Mycologia 94: 146-170. 2002).
I know Trich comes in many, many forms but harzianum from my understanding was the most commonly identified, or are they harder to identify with just the human eye?

Some of the common green mold is benign in casings with commercial growing, apparently, and doesn't really affect mushroom yield.
http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/AR/archive/dec02/mush1202.htm
It also says something about the benign type preventing mycotoxin synthesis.

Can trichoderma look like wispy white mycelium? Non rhizomorph though. Or could it be the substrates to dry?

To tell you the truth i think it's the hulls on the grain. That makes the growth different. Had me wondering for a bit what was going on.

I love how every link tells you what it is, shows you pictures.. tells you EVERYTHING about trich EXCEPT:
WHAT THE FUCK IT DOES.
Does it kill you? Does it kill mushrooms, does it stunt their growth, does it prevent them from growing, do they still grow but make you sick, does trich cause you to take off your clothes and cut pentagrams in your chest with glass shards, does trich cause you to bleed from your eyes? does it cause you to spontaneously combust?
WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT DO?
Jesus Christ.
