glad you didn't come back empty handed.
nice score tahoe. did that trip take care of the anxiousness of the season starting?
I'm feeling it pretty bad down here. Haven't been home in weeks.

i found a lawn fruiting of Pan. subbalteatus today on the other side of the hills [central valley]. if you're in the valley and can't get to the coast right now, get out to those subb spots
these are [or are close to] the variety i was finding a few years ago in modesto. i was never able to determine if they where Pan. subbalteatus or Pan. castanaeifolius but have leaned towards subbs. they rarely exhibit blueing but when they do there is no question about it. more pics to come.
they almost universaly exhibit an even margin and are classicaly campantulate unlike many other collections of subbs i've seen. they look superficialy like overgrown Panaeolina foenisecii; i've passed them up before.
some habitat shots of younger specimens:
-------------------- Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

they get thin down near half moon bay. THey are found in santa cruz and they are found in sacramento. If they grow in sac then they will grow in hmb. San mateo, for sure 100%. We have seen many post about that area. As for finding them, you will have to do the research yourself. I taught myself how to find them and it might take years until you have the eye for it.

Seeing how he said he's found them there i thought it'd be okay to ask where he found them, even thoughe said do my own research? Right, why not just ask him what areas in san mateo, you dont have to be rude because I wanted to know where he got them in san mateo.
