Introduction to the Shroomery
The Shroomery content management system is designed to help organize and maintain the vast amount of information comprising the site. Resources are grouped into sections, which may then contain subsections, as well as documents, images, files and links.
You can reach our most popular sections directly from the main page of the Shroomery, then use the drop-down menu on any page to quickly navigate the site.
To search for resources on the Shroomery use the field in the upper-right corner of any page, or click the 'Search Our Site' text for more advanced search options.
To search for a phrase instead of a single word, place it in quotation marks. If you want to make sure a word or phrase appears in the search results, preface it with a plus sign. Use a minus sign to exclude words. You can also specify which types of resources you're looking for with the checkboxes under the search form. When you are ready, click 'Search'.
Now you know how resources are organized on the Shroomery and you have the ability to find the information you're looking for. We hope you enjoy the site!
Adding to the Shroomery
It's possible for registered users to add sections, documents, images, and other resources to the Shroomery. To add a new resource, first, navigate to the section where you wish to create it. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click the 'Add New' tab.
You will be able to choose which type of resource you wish to add from the drop-down list. You can add sections, documents, files and images, and links. The fields will vary, depending on what type of resource you are adding. Enter a name, caption and any other information which is required. When you're finished, click 'Add'. The resource will immediately be saved and posted to the Shroomery.
Now that you know how to contribute resources to the Shroomery, you can get busy adding to the site!
Editing on the Shroomery
Any registered user can edit resources on the Shroomery, and all changes are logged to allow mistakes or vandalism to be easily reverted.
To update the caption of an item, simply move your cursor over it and double-click. You will be able to edit its contents and make any changes. When you're done press enter or click outside the edit box to save your modifications, or press escape to cancel the edit.
It is also possible to change the order in which sections and documents are displayed. Simply click on the resource you wish to reorder, hold down your mouse button and drag it to its new position.
To change the name of an item make sure it is open, then double-click on its name and modify it the same way as a caption. Click outside the box or press enter to finish.
If you wish to edit the main text of a document, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Edit' tab. Use the edit field like a word process to make any changes. When you are done, click 'Submit Edit'.
To move an item to a different section, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Move' tab. Using the tree menu, select the desired destination for the resource. Click on a folder to expand its subsections, and click on the name of a section to select it. There is also a 'Trash' section for useless documents. If you wish to leave a copy in the original location, use the checkbox beneath the menu. When you are done, click the 'Move' button.
Now that you understand how to edit resources on the Shroomery, you will be able to build upon the work of others.
Working With Revisions
Because anyone can edit information on the Shroomery, vandalism or misinformation may occasionally degrade the quality of a document. For this reason, all revisions are logged and can easily be viewed and reverted at any time.
To see a list of the changes made to a document, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Revisions' tab. The currently active revisions are highlighted in light blue. There is an active revision for every field of a document, including its title, caption, contents, and location on the site. Changes to these fields are independently tracked, and every time a modification is made it will show up as a new revision.
You can see how a document has evolved over time by looking at its past revisions. To view a revision, simply click on it in the revisions list. Information about its value will appear.
If the revision was made to the document's body, the actual page will be updated to reflect its value and you can click the 'Highlight Changes' checkbox to view the document's HTML source. New content is highlighted in green and deleted text is highlighted in red to help you pinpoint exactly which parts of a document were modified.
To undo a change, select the revision you'd like to use instead to and click 'Revert'.
Now that you know how to use the revision tracking functionality of the Shroomery, you can help maintain documents and make improvements without fear of vandalism.

Just curious... is this feature still in place? I couldn't find an Edit button anywhere on documents in Mushroom Info .

Yep, it is, but because of idiots and vandals we've disabled edit permissions for most user groups and sections. You cool though, I added you to the CMS editor group.
