My friend brought this recipe back after visiting his parents in Spain and I ended up getting completely plastered on it on Friday lol
It translates as red wine of summer. As the name suggests it is commonly drunk in summer. In the Costa del Sol it is common for locals to drink tinto verano while tourists drink sangria.
Ingredients:
1/2 measure fruity red wine - red rioja is good 1/4 measure martini bianco or white vermouth 1/4 measure lemonade (the clear fizzy stuff - sprite or 7UP for instance)
Serve over ice

Thank you for this recipe my friend! I haven't had one of these since I lived on the Costa del Sol back in the early/mid 90's. I was 13 at the time, living with my brother-in-law's Spanish family, sent over by my parents, alone, with the hope of reinforcing the spanish language I was studying in jr. high / early high school. I remember we used to take walks out on the coast, commonly starting around 10pm! Mid-way through the walk we'd take a seat in some side street stand, often on the waterfront, gettin' served some pinchitos (tasty marinated beef on skewers cooked over an open flame), washing 'em down with a splash of tinto de verano
Great memory, thank you for bringin' it to the forefront of my thoughts!
