Today I found what I have been searching for for the last 7 years!
psilocybe caerulipes
thousands of them
I also had the last class of my undergradute career today, and I decided that the really hot twenty-one year old girl I have been seeing is my beloved sister. OhioBlueBell, this is not the patch I showed you. These are authentic-wild Psilocybe caerulipes from Belmont county Ohio.
Eris, this is the most awsome year of my life!

Awesome that you found them in Ohio. Perhaps you are the first!
Ever since I had bought a copy of PMOTW a long time ago, and was really into actives I've had interest in finding those. In all of the years of going on excursions I came up empty.

Wow amazing finds. Please fill us in on some details.

The white man can never win another war on the ground. His days of war, victory, his reign -- his days of ground victory are over. Can I prove it? Yes. Take all the action that's going on this earth right now that he's involved in -- tell me where he's winning. Nowhere.
Why some rice farmers -- some rice eaters ran him out of Korea. Yes, they ran him out of Korea. Rice eaters with nothing but gym shoes, and a rifle, and a bowl of rice took him and his tanks and his napalm, and all that other action he's supposed to have and ran him across the Yalu. Why? 'Cause the day that he can win on the ground has passed.

I don't think this is the first find from Ohio but these are the best pictures I have seen of Psilocybr caerulipes.

Holy Shit shroomydan! I just made a post telling some guy how rare these things were. Talk about a crazy coincidence.
You're the 5th person I've seen post them in 5 years. 1 caerulipes find a year, and you got it this year
Its nice to see some high quality pics of these bastids. I was almost 100% convinced that they were the same mushroom as weilii. Your pics make it obvious that they're not. They've got a veil and the patterning on the stem only goes up to the veil, as apposed to all the way on weilii.
Do they have a very distinct, musky smell?
Can you give us a detailed account of their habitat?
I'm fucking amazed. Good work shroomydan!

Very pretty mushrooms weilii and caerulipes.. I think distinction between species may be more a matter of degree rather than kind.

Truly breath taking, they are very similar in many ways to the Weilii but many differences as well. The younger specimens look more like the weilii than the older ones but true gumby a much more solid veil with a stem veil remnant. Awsome and congrats shroomy.
