That gives this Kentuckian some hope. I know of a perfect spot, fast moving stream, those bamboo plants, and sandy banks. Damn I cant wait till next year.

nice find and thanks for sharing! i've been looking for the elusive blue foot for years with no luck in the NE.
Just curious, any idea about the potency of those babies compared to cubes?

Thanks Pikashroom
Hey trippy,
MJ has asked me not to post the results from the chemical analysis here until our paper is published, but I can say that the tests confirmed my opinion that dried bluefoot is about the same potency as dried cubes. Lots of folk report that they are considerably stronger when fresh.

This thread might be old, but It's not necessarily dead. The story on these mushrooms is not over. I plan to update this thread with new photos and information, maybe as soon as this weekend.
Year old answered ID requests are dead. A detailed report of a controversial species has a little more longevity.

Dan, Remember to keep some prime photos of the P. ovoideocystidiata for our article. We should not publish photos already posted on the internet. WE will need both a natural occurring photo and one of the cultivation. Hopefully one not posted by you as of yet. I have already wrote an abstract, part of the introduction and have added the SEM and Chemical analysis as well as the 9 herbarium deposits in three herbariums. (XAL, Leipzig and Chula).

I am putting this paper together rather nicely for may the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, one of the most prestigious botanical journals of all times.
Can you give me the url for the cult section for me to check it out?

Any chance of you letting us know the results of your chemical analysis? Or at least its potency relative to more known species like cubes or cyans?

MJ -
Do some herbariums have a license to handle schedule I substances, or are they technically operating in the same type of legal netherworld that psilocybin mushrooms at fungus fairs are in?

Most major Universities have research programs which allow scheduled one permits for storage of drug/plant materials and may have a drug/plant course or classes for such. Mostly in medicinal medicines.
The U of Washington has hundreds of collections of magic shrooms. So does Harvard, UCLA, Yale, Princeton, U of Michigan. New York Botanical Gardens. Duke University, University of Chicago and many herbariums outside of the Aamericas. The largest single Psilocybe collections are at XAL in Mexico.
Regarding the chemical content, we cannot post any of that information until the paper is published.
IF Shroomy Dan or I were to post it here than the journals would find the data invaluable as already being published.

Here are a few pictures of spore samples from these mushrooms ShroomyDan found. The spores are mounted in nutrient supplemented water so hopefully in a few days we can see hyphae formation if anyone is interested... I should take a few pictures with a stain as well, and damnit I need to get on ordering a new bottle of immersion oil.

Wow, I know this thread is a little be old. But for the past 4 or 5 months I've been looking for these. I live in Ny. Any suggestions or areas to look? I've looked at your photos and read the habitats. Any particular month to look either? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ahhhh...this is an absolutely inspiring thread. I live in the northeast US and searched this past year (started too late, the summer, I think) to no avail. This is getting my blood flowing again now that spring is on the horizon. Thanks for the tips of where to look (in terms of terrain) and congrats on the GREAT finds shroomydan...it must be almost like hitting Powerball.
