Psilocybe azurescens Question
    #1917617 - 09/15/03 08:02 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

I want to look for some Psilocybe azurescens in Ohio, i know they come out in autumn and that time is coming around soon. I was reading on the shroomery about them and it says "Psilocybe azurescens . (Introduced). " Does this mean they are only in a few locations where they were introduced, therfore they would be difficult to find? has anyone here found these in this area? thanks

Paul Stamets wrote a few places where people grew some back yard patches which fruited for a year or so and never came backl. Guzman then included those listings in a paper by him, Gartz and I against my wishes. They are primarily from Astoria and Hammond Oregon.

Rare in Washington unles replanted each year inprivate patches. rare in public in Washington but copmmon oin the norther coast of oregon.

He also included New Mexico or Arizona, and New york and several European countries. Gartz had several small patches pop up and disappear a year later.

Because you have a spot dobie420_247 does not mean that a lot of other people have spots in Washington. That would still make it rare for the average picker wandering aeround the cities looking in public places for shrooms. I sure would like to go and photograph some with you this fall though if you are sure about them.

Pm me later. We could make a day of going on a few hunts, maybe later inthe fall to Kingston for a clearcut of peliiculosas.

Ok, you guys are talking about the coast.
I'm a little further inland...on the I-5 corridor in Douglas County.
I'm really hoping on stumbling on a patch this fall but don't know the first thing about hunting them. My book says they can be found just about anywhere that there is dead wood. A bit vague........
Any hints?
