I have 2 pint jars that were about 90% colonized, i noticed today that the botom of the jar that wasent colonized had green mold. I went ahead and cut about 1/4-1/2 inch off the contaminated part, i did it very carefully and cleanly, then i cased them. anyone done this with sucess? or was this a bad idea?

I actually just got finished doing the same thing. I came to the shroomery to find out what this green stuff is and how to prevent it. Back to your question... the previous batch I had grown started like that as well. I got boomers and there was no further contamination. So you are probably in the clear. Only difference between my situatioin and yours is that I use a pearlite terrarium for fruiting insetead of casing. By the way, what method do you use for casing? I want to try a casing technique. I have my casings in a terarium with perlite also, I used a few different thing to case. some trays are perlite bottom some are vermiculite bottom casing layer. some have vermiculite for a top casing layer and one i used a mix i got at fred myers(same as 50/50). I used different sized pans, with different amount of cakes. but i used different methods of crubling too, i broke some up by hand and i put a few cakes in the blender which i really liked cause its easier to evenly distribute the mycilium. i hope all goes well with the case i cut the contams out of...
