Re: scientist say it is very possible we are all a computer simulation [Re: kaiowas]

I don't know, if I were a member of a race that had evolved socially and technologically enough to create an entire universe as a computer simulation, I'd probably create something a little more fantastic and original than a race of creatures that are evolving socially and technologically enough to create an entire universe as a computer simulation. Why simulate something that's already going on? Seems rather uninspired to me.

And if this world is a computer simulation, which to us possesses just as much immediacy and "real"ness as it does to those outside the simulation, what does this say of reality? What makes their reality more real than our own? If the simulation is so precise that the beings within it possess their own sentience in the context of their own relationship with their own reality, what of those outside the simulation, who relate to their reality in exactly the same way?

It seems that if this world were a computer simulation so exact that it totally replicated the reality going on outside the simulation, it would not matter that it was so. Our goings-on might be predictable and already observed by the outsiders, but they are not predictable and already observed by us. And so in that way our two worlds are identical, and the discussion is moot.

Furthermore, what is to become of a simulation once it's simulated inhabitants discover that they are mere simulations? Would not the entire simulation collapse at this point? It is impossible to calculate variables once a simulated being has become cognizant of the fact that it is simulated. Should a simulated being come to believe that he is a simulation, him an his entire world would simply disintegrate.

The race of advanced alien life that would create this simulated reality would probably already have already reached the next stage in cognitive evolution and be able to harness the power of the mind to move energy and matter. They were still a selfish dominant sentient species with a large cognitive capacity and harvest human being's life energy (who were living inside of a simulated world) to feed its evolved telekenetic and telepathic abilities.
...(some hypothesise this as our next leap in evolution in our world, and I am assuming that our world's details are based on the details of the overlying template world.)
Or if I didn't assume that: Maybe in the template world they evolved (maybe they could travel within their universe but they're were no habitable planets near) before they destroyed their planet and everything on it in a war that they thought was certain. When they evolved, all living and non-living things on the planet transformed into gaia(the collective consciousness not greek god), and there was no need for war because gaia would be fighting itself.
Gaia or components of gaia were curious what would have happened to the human race had it not transcended and joined or collaborated in the creation of gaia. (Maybe a group of human being did something to allow human beings transcend, or relating it to ou world: its the future apocalypse, or the shift in perception of 2012)
Beings in the template world may have created the simulation for amusement or to see if Gaia was a good change for the world from a dominant sentient species with a large cognitive capacity. Or, maybe they saw another similar world near theirs that was on the brink of war and self-destruction. (maybe this is already happening with a less advanced simulation and earth) (because gaia can has collectively evolved long enough to discover intergalactic life from intergalacitc space travel or ?traveling faster than the speed of light.is this possible?) If it knew for certain that an intelligent species was going to destroy its planet, it could assimilate them into gaia and stop war and destruction.
However in it's infinite wisdom, it had to explore the decision fully.

No, some of us travel at a different pace then others. Some can time travel, some can't. Others were not meant to time travel.
