Yes you can argue the points.. as long as you are not calling someone's ideas stupid or some such.

What if you are the originator of a thread and so can't be mocking anyone or calling their ideas stupid since nobody but you has posted so far?

Or is S&M ONLY for posts proactive in support of mysticism and no discussion that doesn't actively further that goal is allowed?

this thread cracks me up. you all are trying so hard to spare one anothers feeling by not questioning each other. thats stupid. merely by having a seperate forum you are drawing like minded people to yourselves. this in itself will reduce tensions. have the mods on guard for active agitators *cough*diploid*cough*swami*cough* who set out to undermine the premises of several beliefs, and get on with discussing OBE's, fairies or whatever. don't be such a bunch of fragile sissies. if you can't handle being questioned on your beliefs then really, what are you doing posting them on a public forum? the internet is full of plenty of people who won't agree with you. get over it.

First, you're being an agitator here. Second, that's the whole premise of this thread...we want to be able to question eachother's beliefs, in a respectful manner. :peace:

so don't let "those who can't handle discussion" stop you from doing that. like i said the internet is full of people who won't agree with you. My God, how do you people interact in real life? do you preface every opinion expressed in RL with "please don't question my beliefs or the foundation of my beliefs"? or do you surround yourself with yesmen so that you'll never be challenged to change your ideas?

i did. i voted yes. I'm all for respectful questioning but i see this "no questioning others beliefs" as thought police. the split groups the poles of S&P into happier groups and i'm glad for that. I still like visiting both and will comment in threads of interest but i will not censor myself in case i injure a fragile ego. if someone is sprouting obvious BS I'm going to call him/her on that.

Yes you can argue the points.. as long as you are not calling someone's ideas stupid or some such.

Yes, we would hate for anyone to break the false connection between their idea and their essence, like all religions try to teach. People should remain stuck in egoistic identification as a way to preclude growth.

Stupid ideas instead should be praised and glorified.

P1: "When I drink Drano, God talks to me."

P2: "How wonderful. Keep up the good work and do it more often."

Red herring.

If you think spiritual expression is a "stupid idea", why posting here ?
Ideas can be stupid, crazy, whatever ... doesn't mean they can't be discussed or even true.

Hardly a red herring when I watched in horror as I saw a former acquaintance dead from ingesting cyanide in the Heaven's Gate cult. He killed himself to go meet the non-existent Mother Ship hiding behind a comet.

Girls... girls!

You're BOTH pretty.

We still need to draw a CLEAR line on this issue. It CAN be done.

Let's hammer THAT out, instead of refining that lousy production number, "I Feel Pithy".

Alright, the poll is now over, and it looks as if "Yes" won with 54% of the vote.
