Went picking today in local cow field in staffs, used your advice and most of the shrooms were at the edge of the field. Found some nice libs, but they have now all been infested with lice-type insects, the little bastards! still its nice to know the shrooms are growing, even though its september. last year I never found any until late oct/nov

Went picking again today (here in West Norfolk) and found some libs, not too many of them, only around 20 or so, but it looks like the season has finally started.

Had my first pick of the season today have had very little time this year.
Had to settle for a new field closer to home to go picking, wasn't expecting to find much in this field but was pleasantly suprised. Picked about 40 - 50 could have got a few more if I spent more time, think things may be peaking over here right now.
The shrooms their selves, decent sized but I picked around 5pm, there were quite a few that were rotting or drying out.

edited by GGreatOne234: Please do not discuss exact locations out here in the open, it is the "rules".
but that would be a hassle, just drive out into the hills nearby somewhere and look in a sheep or cow field, watch out for farmers with shotguns tho

Hooray!!! At last, another successful pick. I went up about three weeks ago and came back with a load, although I think I was just lucky and happened upon an early flush. After four unsuccessful hunts the past two weeks I finally came back smiling today because I picked about 500 of the beauties this morning Despite going out early they were really easy to spot too since it hasn't rained for a few days now and many had dried out and lightened in colour.
Here's a few picked specimens
And also in the field
And this is where I pick them
It's on a mountain, grazed by sheep, a mixture of short and long grass with clumps of reed grass and gorse bushes.
So if you haven't found any yet, don't get disheartened, the season here has only just kicked off.
Happy hunting and

A succsesful picking session Looking_in, I hope you fully enjoy your crop. Your right to mention to other fellow pickers that the season has only just kicked off, some patches I know where there would usually be a lot at this time, there are very few, if any at all, yet in others there are promising signs. The matter of only a few days can make all the difference, so keen checking!

I live in Norwich, and theres a cow field right near my work, not far from the station, which I go to pretty much every lunchtime. Went on a little hunt today and found 10 or 20 smallish shrooms, although I'm not sure if there Libs as this is my first real hunt. I'll post some pictures when I get back to my yard this evening, hopefully you guys will be able to put me right...
Here's to the new season- the cycle stil carries on no matter what the law is!

Peak District.
Lake District.
Walse.
Any Sheep fields in these place in a week or two should be a good bet.
If we want more shrooms we must create the environment by active campaigning and action. Nature supports effort and honest research. It's not enough to moan about global warming and pollution we must do something about it ! For instance; 1. What and how dangerous is a dioxin ? 2. For what reason is the ministry of defence opposing the widespread development of offshore windpower in the British Isles ? 3. What is depleted uranium and how dangerous is it ?
