it wasnt about blending in, the combat gear and BDUs are to instill terror and add
to the confusion, it's the psychologial part of warfare in the 'drug war'

whats more intimidating?

Well obviously the police are going to tell the media they didn't have a permit. It's basically the promoters' word against the police. I wonder if the city keeps records of permits for events like this.

Also notice how the entire account of the event is given from the police's perspective. The media didn't even interview the promoters to get their side of the story. So those newspaper articles are completely one-sided.

The police were rounding up the staff of the party and the main promoter went up to them with the permit for the show and said "here, I have the permit." The police then said, "no you don't" and ripped the permit out of his hand.

If that happened or not, who knows... but that's definitely fucked up if it's true.

unfortunately the War on Drugs has given government the ability to side step the
constitution, the first notable time the military stepped in on US Citizens was
in Waco Tx with the Branch Davidians, the ATF fabricated a meth lab story to
get the support of military troops in finalizing the raid. This was admitted in
a Senate hearing and nothng came of it.

Posse Comitatus Act

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act

this happened also in 1992 at RUBY RIDGE

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_Ridge

our government should have no excuse to use military tactics on civilians.

The Posse Comitatus Act was passed after the Civil War.

he Posse Comitatus Act was passed in 1878, it's since been over ridden by the act
that enabled the war on drugs, it's supposed to deal only with the large cartels
and manufacturers but has also been used for simple drug raids like a group of
the 101st Airborne being used to excecute raids on crack houses as a training
excersize in North Carolina

Ruby Ridge had no military intervention asside from Bo Gritz, but you're right,
the military shouldnt be involved in civilian matter, unfortunately, it's no
longer the case

The Posse Comitatus Act is a federal law of the United States (18 U.S.C. ? 1385) passed in 1878, after the end of Reconstruction, and was intended to prohibit Federal troops from supervising elections in former Confederate states.

After the Civil War...

In December 1981 additional laws were enacted (codified 10 USC 371-78) clarifying permissible military assistance to civilian law enforcement agencies?including the Coast Guard?especially in combating drug smuggling into the United States. Posse Comitatus clarifications emphasize supportive and technical assistance (e.g., use of facilities, vessels, aircraft, intelligence, tech aid, surveillance) while generally prohibiting direct participation of DoD personnel in law enforcement (e.g., search, seizure, and arrests). For example, Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachments (LEDETS) serve aboard Navy vessels and perform the actual boardings of interdicted suspect drug smuggling vessels and, if needed, arrest their crews.

1981...
Is that when the Drug War over rode this Act?

It's hard to tell if it applies... there was no smuggling involved.

And can this Utah Rave situation even be classified as Military action?
